The Saudis have obviously invested a large amount of money on the provision they get one of the finals. So without this fight being in Saudi, these tournaments don't happen.

Saudi has recently opened up for tourist visas - obviously no alcohol.

When I suggested it to my boxing buddies that it could be a niche trip for a boys weekend (near some of the best diving in the world), early Islamic architecture etc, the response was not favourable (cue jokes about not wanting to be on that kind of the lash).

Surely this would sell out a decent sized arena in the UK and with ppv cash it would be a big deal? However I do eerily recall that creepy MC with the bizarre pony tail hollering something about "the road to Jedda" when announcing the boxers in an earlier round of the WBSS.
