Jessie Vargas vs. Thomas Dulorme - October 6, 2018

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Multiple sources have advised BS.com that a clash between former two-division champion Jessie Vargas (28-2) and former title challenger Thomas Dulorme (24-3) is nearly finalized for October 6th in Chicago.

The fight would air on the streaming app DAZN and would be part of their first card to take place on American soil.

The October 6th card is also expected to include Beterbiev's IBF light heavyweight title defense against Callum Johnson and Miller against a fighter still to be determined.

With yesterday's announcement of the return of Conor McGregor to the octagon against unbeaten champion Khabib Nurmagomedov it is unknown if Matchroom and DAZN will move the date of their fight card to not compete with what will surely be the biggest UFC pay-per-view card of the year.

Vargas should've fought Ugas instead. Pointless fight. Dulorme is a solid fighter, though.

Jessie Vargas vs. Thomas Dulorme To Have WBC Silver at Stake

Jessie Vargas and Thomas Dulorme will clash for the WBC Silver Welterweight title at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago on October 6, live on DAZN.

“My focus has to be solely on Thomas Dulorme,” said WBC #3 ranked Vargas. “This man is no walk in the park, he fights with his heart and always gives it his all, but I have prepared properly and record a tremendous victory. It's going to be a great show and I'm proud to be headlining it.

“This is the first step in the new phase of my career. As a fighter, it's always best to have fights lined up and have a clear plan, have a promoter that shows you 'you are going to fight three times in 12 months' and when you get that certainty you know you have a couple of weeks off after a fight and then you are into another training camp to give the fans another great. I am stull young and I have plenty of years left in me at the very top level - I'm truly excited.

“Shawn Porter is my boy and he's a great fighter, he's got a lot of experience, great stamina and power. I will fight the top guys, all the champions, there are some huge fights to make out there at Welterweight. We’re all going to go at it and we’re going to see who ends up on top.”

“Jessie is the leading contender in the WBC rankings and I am very confident that victory on October 6 will lead him to the mandatory position for Shawn Porter,”
said promoter Eddie Hearn. “That’s a great fight that we would be very interested in but first he must win the Mexico vs Puerto Rico battle in Chicago.”

Farias vs. McCaskill WBC Title Fight Added

Jessica McCaskill is hunting history as Chicago’s first Women’s World champion when she challenges WBC World Super-Lightweight champion Erica Farias on a bumper World title triple-header at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago on October 6, live on DAZN.

McCaskill’s (5-2 3KOs) second crack at World honors comes hot on the heels of her stirring performance against Lightweight ruler Katie Taylor in London in December – where the Chicago favorite pushed the Irish star the distance and posed her plenty of problems in just her seventh pro outing.

Buoyed by that night’s work, ‘CasKILLA’ will relish welcoming Farias (26-2 10KOs) to her home patch next weekend, but faces another star performed in the Argentine two-weight World champion, who defends her title for the fourth time in the windy city.

Farias will be taking on her fellow 34 year old on in her impressive 19th World title contest – but McCaskill is determined to seize her big night with both hands.

“I’m thrilled to be fighting for a World title in my home town,” said McCaskill. “I know that Erica is a great World champion, but I learnt so much from fighting Katie and I feel like I am more than ready to take the title from her.

“It was already going to be an honor to fight on the card with so many great fighters, but now there is this great prize on the line, I promise my fans that I will be leaving everything in the ring to make history for Chicago."

Farias is rated #1 in the 140lbs division and with Puerto Rican legend Amanda Serrano making the WBO Super-Lightweight strap her sixth weight division conquered as a World champion in Brooklyn earlier in the month, ‘La Pantera’ will be looking to meet Serrano in a unification bout – but knows McCaskill will be a threat in front of a partisan crowd.
