Natasha Jonas

What happened?

I couldn't believe how bad she looked last night.

If you go back and watch her olympic fight with Taylor she shows good speed and good movement. Outclassed by Taylor but still shows good skills. Last night she was very poor indeed.

Her opponent may have the best ass in boxing.

She was absolutely terrible, her defence was shocking. Eff knows what happened, but she looked like she’d never even been in the ring before.

Delighted to see she lost. Kills the Katie Taylor fight which would be a total mismatch.

Obenauf was too rough and hit too hard for her. I don't imagine Jonas has come across an opponent like that before. She was fighting back when the towel came in though, so she's no bottle job.

That was pretty brutal to watch, probably the best fight on the card in all fairness along with McGoldrick/McDonagh

I like Tasha, she seems a lovely girl, but she looked clueless in there.

The opponent was strong and relentless, but if Tasha could have kept her on the end of the jab for a few rounds and used lateral movement to stay out of trouble she could have took the sting out of her by the halfway stage.

She was swinging her left very wide and then slapping with it. Which left her open for the right hand time and again.

I would have thought a long time member of the GB podium squad would have enough sense to change things up if it is not working, but she didn't seen to have a clue.

She was either moving back in straight lines and getting clobbered or trying to exchange punches with her opponent (who was clearly stronger than her) and getting clobbered.

A lot of this will be down to the increased quality of female boxing. They are now looking to hurt their opponent, and with Tash this seemed quite alien, and she reacted badly.

Back in 2012 the quality was only one step up from 'foxy boxing' for 90% of the fighters. Add into that the amateur style, today is a different world.

It's more than that though. She looked a shell of how she looked in the Olympics. Way way slower. I heard she had a kid in her time off? Maybe that had an effect. Being trained by Gallagher is also a bad factor against her. She's basically a shot fighter.

the only thing I can assume is that there have been some kind of problems with her nan recently. to explain such a drop in form.

the quality really isnt that different from 2012 imo, pretty much all the lady fighters around today were boxing back then too, someone like obenauf isnt some new phenomenon to be explained

was it 5 years out jonas had? a bit odd that. okay if she had a child or something, but 5 years out of boxing when your in your late 20s prob wont serve you well.

Tesco Joe going through a bit of a rough spell cardle loosing & leaving him , Morrison & Liam Smith & Tasha all getting beat , Paul Smith retiring been a bad couple of months, wouldn't be surprised if Groves beats Callum the Smiths leave aswell back to Liverpool to be trained by Paul Smith they pay a tidy sum to Joe over the last few years now Paul s days are over he'll need the ££££ .

I have to disagree...the style of fighting is very different to what was happening then. The likes of Taylor would always dominate, but in general I think it is better.

Totally agree that age and time out not helped at all....
