Tevin Farmer v James Tennyson

Post by Stuarty »

Farmer will defend his IBF 130 title against Belfasts Tennyson on the Saunders v Andrade undercard. Interesting fight this one. Farmer is a good technician but is beatable and lacks pop, although he seemed to hurt Dib a few times in his last outing. Tennyson has improved a lot since his stoppage defeat to Walsh a couple years back exposing Ward and stopping him last time out. Farmer has to be favourite but Tennyson has a punchers chance here and will be hoping to drag Farmer in to a brawl.

Who you got?

Farmer should take this.

Tennyson was good last time out, but Farmer hasn’t just won that title to let go of it quickly.

Tennyson has genuine power but Farmer should be too slick.

Farmer has nice feet ill give him that but he does still get tagged a lot.Billy Dib was catching him a lot.He also doesnt have the power to keep a stronger guy off him.

Im going James Tennyson by devastating knockout.

Hope you're right mate. Like Tennyson. Vastly improved and not afraid to take a risk.

Looking forward to this actually, never seen it coming, I think its a great clash of styles, boxer vs puncher, Farmer dominated Dib last time out, had him down and never lost a round on my card, its hard to tell whether this is a step up considering Dib is finished but is former world level

Tennyson coming off an excellent win over Ward to win the European/Commonwealth straps, had to get off the floor after being crippled by a bodyshot early doors though, he's defo got power though and if he can hit Farmer clean then it could get interesting , both men have been stopped by poor opposition early in their careers but have improved, Farmer's not a puncher but he's one of the best defensive fighters out there now although he hasn't fought any top level fighters yet apart from Pedraza who KO'd him early in their careers

I'd love to see Tennyson pull it off but he's vulnerable to the body as Ward and Ryan Walsh proved, Farmer might not carry power but if he lands clean to the body I think he'll stop Tennyson, all Tennyson has to do is land clean once though

I'll say Farmer wins via body shot

Nice post mate. Hard to disagree with you there but as you say, I wouldn't completely write Tennyson off though Farmer has the skills to make him look one dimensional. He will throw everything at it though :bag:

I'm leaning towards Farmer on points but fingers crossed Tennyson can pull off the upset.

I’m putting my money on Farmer via KO.
He’s not a huge puncher, but he’s accurate and that might be enough against Tennyson.

Hard not to like Tennyson. One of those fighters who wins or loses via KO.

Even if he’s getting outclassed he will be swinging.

As good as Farmer was, that was a shocking stoppage IMO, it was getting tough in there for Tennyson but it was a world title fight FFS, if he was taking clean headshots all night then fair enough but it was only the 5th round and he's only been down twice from body shots, it did look like Tennyson was on his way out but who knows coz the ref flapped it

In saying that Farmer was different gravy tonight, showed he was levels above Tennyson, it was an excellent defensive display, making Tennyson miss with everything and countering him beautifully, the jab was sharp and excellent as were those sickening lefts to the body, game effort from Tennyson he never stopped pressuring despite having no real success, Farmer was on point tonight but that stoppage leaves a bad taste

Tennyson showed guts. He was taking those vicious body-shots like Gatti. Probably he would have continued the fight, if it wasn't stopped, but he wouldn't most likely last much longer in that case.

Farmer is pish! Gervonta Davis would make easy work of him. Tennyson will never have a better opportunity to win a world belt...

It’s a great stoppage when you have a chunk down on Farmer via KO at 9/2

Yes - I spotted that.
Backed the KO @ 9/2 :TU:
Barely won a penny tho' - as I piled in on 7-12 and 7-9 for big jackpots. :brick:
Figured he'd whether some sort of storm first, then take a while to wear him down.
In reality, there was no storm and no wearing down. :bag:
