Is Miller the actual best American heavyweight out there?
Re: Is Miller the actual best American heavyweight out there?
If not to count Wilder, than he probably is.
Re: Is Miller the actual best American heavyweight out there?
Nope. Wilder is.
Miller has the skill to trouble a lot of top guys, but not the discipline. He'll lose fights he COULD'VE won because he's just too fat and lazy.

Kownacki has been sparring with Miller since they were 15. People say they are about even when sparring which isn't a real fight but it can be used as kind of a guage.
Re: Is Miller the actual best American heavyweight out there?
I don't know about best, he is definitely the biggest
Jarell "Buffet Buster" Miller
I think Brazeale beats him, and most likely Wilder KO's him. I don't know about Kownacki, I'd like to find out though.
So top #3 USA HW.

Wilder would destroy him. The fact that Miller is a top heavyweight is indicative of the horrible quality of the current crop of heavyweights.

This thread is a wilder bashing attempt in sheep's clothing!

no, wilder is, though miller is a lot better then guys like duhauoas, scott, molina, washington, and szpilka., and could beat them all day too like wilder did. would be a good opponent for wilder
him vs wilder would be a fun build up and fight.

Re: Is Miller the actual best American heavyweight out there?
I really rate Miller. People look at him and see a fat man who is more fond of cheeseburgers that a top athlete has any right to be. I think the perception is a little misleading:
Big Baby is a huge man but he is not overweight, or at least not to any significant degree. He's like a super-sized Joe Frazier.
Ok he doesn't have Frazier's punching power but he is a pressure fighter, and throws almost as many punches as his buddy Adam Kownacki. He is built like a tank, very difficult to discourage, and can take the shots of all but the biggest punchers with impunity. On the limited evidence of what we've seen so far admittedly.
For such a big man he appears to have excellent stamina.
I don't know if his chin can withstand Wilder's best shot, but I'd give him a better chance than anyone else of taking Deontay's best. He can match Deontay for stamina, his slight advantage in technique is probably off-set by Wilder's height advantage and better jab (when called upon to use it).
I don't know which of the two would win but I don't see any other American in the equation. I think it would be a fantastic match which I would dearly love to watch. The only fighter I would confidently expect to beat Miller is a peak form Tyson Fury not the 2018 version, and I'd make Joshua the favourite, but the only fighter AJ should be more wary of is Wilder (and a peak form Fury)

Re: Is Miller the actual best American heavyweight out there?
i agree with a lot of that, hes a solid steady fighter, but if he was 242 at 24/25 and 270 at 28 i have a hard time belieiving hes not overweight now around the 300s. theres virtually no 6'4 man on the planet whos not carrying a spare tire at 304 and hes been at much lower weights before, so we know hes not some freak of nature whose a natural 300. he obviously eats plentifully
he also gained 21 pounds between his last two fights, and thats not muscle. so far his stamina looks okay but hes also pretty much had just punch bag opponents who he works at his own measured pace against

Yes, once Joshua gets past Povetkin and Wilder he can start winning for fun if he wants.punchoutsb wrote: ↑03 Sep 2018, 17:59 Wilder would destroy him. The fact that Miller is a top heavyweight is indicative of the horrible quality of the current crop of heavyweights.
The young guns should be looking at this current scene and feeling ambitious - seeing the lack of US talent. It's made for another Ali or Tyson to come along and sweep all before them but they won't be coming from America.
Re: Is Miller the actual best American heavyweight out there?
I don't see Wilder destroying Miller. When is the last time Wilder destroyed anyone anyways? Duhaupus, Ortiz, Molina, and Szpilka all gave him issues. Actually, I forgot about that horrible Stiverne rematch.
Hard to say if Miller loses to Wilder. Miller eats punches like burgers, but he has a good workrate. The Wach fight is concerning, though, but hell, Szpilka was a nobody and gave Wilder so much problems. Different styles, but my point is that Wilder sucks.

For sure, Miller is overweight, but perhaps he isn't as obese as the scales indicate. He’s just a bit stocky but not unathletically so.
The marvellous world-renowned highly-rated WBA heavyweight contender, Chris Lovejoy, makes Jarrell’s physique look like Errol Spence Jr’s by comparison.

Miller is no joke. He could give anyone hell, maybe out work and out eat them in the same night. Want to see him in with a puncher. I don’t like his upcoming fight.

Sparring is something entirely different. Often sparring partners go hard, whilst the house fighter takes it easy.
A lot of sparring stories are also total horseshite.

He looks much slimmer there than any fight I recall seeing him in.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑04 Sep 2018, 05:16For sure, Miller is overweight, but perhaps he isn't as obese as the scales indicate. He’s just a bit stocky but not unathletically so.

Sadly neither are tripping over their feet in a rush to prove their supremacy. As much as I rate Miller it was embarrassing the shite he was talking in a recent interview with 'Tha Boxing Voice' banging on about how he wants a belt which is why he only wants to fight Charr.
I would pick Wilder or Miller to prevail against Dillian Whyte after a tough fight, but there is one department in which he wipes the floor with the pair of them, and that's in the metaphorical size of their respective cojones.

I can't agree with that at all. Re: Is Miller the actual best American heavyweight out there?
BTW, i think that Kownacki shouldnt really be mentioned as American, of course, he got American citizenship (Polish too), lives in the States, fights out of USA (though recently he trained in Poland as well) and got American boxing licence but it is clear and obvious that he represents Poland and his main fanbase are Poles.astradamus wrote: ↑03 Sep 2018, 14:24 The more I look around in the heavyweight division, the more it seems like he could win against all the other Americans.
I don't see him losing against Breazeale, Kownacki, Jennings, or any other American in every case. Kownacki would probably be the most competative of them all.
He seems to be the only one who might actually win against DW, despite DW his win against Parker.
I can't wait for AJ to beat him as well, AJ is probably rank 1 of the world by the biggest margin since 1955 or so.
It is strange, i heard that Kownacki is listed on boxrec as American because he has American licence but so had Fonfara, Charr got German licence, he's Lebanese and listed as... Syrian.
Not to mention all Cuban boxers that obviously dont have Cuban licences but still they're listed as Cubans.
