Can't understand the hate

Post by coneye »

Can't understand , the hate some seem to show for AJ , when you look at how fast he has been moved and how he has kept dispatching the guys in front of him , its got to be a great effort , OK we have all had the shits because he has'nt fought Wilder but lets have it right , Wilder has been just has bad in making excuses , , he'll sign for Fury but not AJ without dates , ect ect ect .

But looking at AJ last night , I personaly had rnds
1-2 Poletvkin
3-4 AJ
5 even
6 -AJ rnd 7 does'nt matter .

But for me 2 things stood out about this fight

1---- Poletvkin was a LOT better than i gave him credit for , , I know he was good , but had'nt relized how good he still was , i think the Poletvkin who fought AJ , stops Wilder , simply because Wilder has'nt the defence to keep him off , a early ko is Wilders only chance ,,,, Fury on the other hand i think if he's back to form , out boxes Poletvkin easy , style make fights

2---- How much Aj has actually improved , Ok he got caught , and actually hurt , but he recovered , you cannot fight a guy has good as Poletvkin , and not get caught sometime or another , , I always put Aj down has a big lumbering muscle bound , Frank Bruno clone ,, but i think he's actually starting to loosen up , get better footwork , faster hands , and a better boxing brain , and doing all this while a 3 belt holder , , how good is he eventually going to become , when in his learning fights he's beating these guys , ... Like others have pointed out in other threads , look at Wilders record after 22 fights , look at Furys record , whats comparable , they both beat Vlad , and thats all . I know most were not impressed by AJ'S fight last night , but i think he gave a good performance , he weathered some heavy blows , which would off stopped others , and came back boxing smart enough to get back in the fight and do what no one else has done

For me it's his fans. The current wank-fest always seems to attract the moron fans. Most AJ fans are morons. He's like the Manchester City or Real Madrid of boxing.

Plus I do want to see Hearn's golden goose get KO'd before he fights the big money showdown vs Wilder, just to stick it to him for faffing around rather than getting it sorted. Also the fact the judges and refs seem so heavily in his favour sours me on him. Povetkin somehow been behind on the cards, the early Takem stoppage, the ref been blatantly pro-AJ vs Parker.

AJ himself I don't have a problem with. He doesn't seem a terrible guy, he's fun to watch.

Most people support AJ, they just want to see Hearn get taken down a peg or two, which is understandable, he's the P Diddy of boxing

He's in exciting fights and is a great watch yet people want to see him lose so the promoter is taken down a peg. Bizarre mindset.

:TU: Indeed. All you can do is shake your head. After a decade of total dominance by giant Ukrainian cardboard cutouts, we have a great, young champion who takes chances and always is looking to KTFO his opponent.

I do not care who his promoter is. I just want to see his next fight.

Achieved a lot in a short period of time - 3 years amateur and wins Olympic gold, two and a half years pro wins a title (gifted a title and the only actual * one needs to add to his career thus far) and now has taken on arguably the third best heavy each time out with a hell of a solid sub thrown in - Wlad, Parker, Povetkin could all legit been seen as the number three guy on the night of the fights and Pulev was also considered third or fourth and that was the scheduled fight.

He is aggressive punches hard, entertains yadda yadda but there is just "something" about AJ, an arrogance (and sure he has a position to be arrogant) an edge, just something that makes me not warm to him. He projects something which just makes me want to see him trip up and realise he still puts his trousers on one leg at a time and still shits like the rest of us.

Plus if he does lose, the aforementioned casual wank-fest will blow up and Eddie could do with a slice of "oh fck pie"

I get it. It is what it is. But, what does a boxer gotta do to make people happy? I understand why people had problems with Wlad. He was the HW division’s version of paint drying. I can understand why people have been frustrated with Wilder and are waiting for the day that he does a Bambi on ice performance. I can understand why people have a problem with that boring tub of goo that is Fury.

But AJ? What more can the kid do?

He won't be worrying about 20 blokes on the internet thinking he's no good. Sells 80k tickets every fight and has made the thick end of £100mill in 5 years.

No doubt. Haterz gotta hate. Nobody misses Wlad being gone. People will miss this kid when he exits, I predict.

AJ's performance was ambiguous. Joshua was losing to Povetkin until the 7th, but it should be admitted, that there was no lucky punch or whatever. Joshua had a smart fight and timed a great one-two. Remaining composed during Povetkin's onslaught was impressive. On the other hand, it's not good to allow opponents to work, Joshua should have established his jab, but he failed to do it, he got caught with some decent shots for not a single time. In any case that wasn't a performance of a dominant champion. Still Joshua has the things he must work on.

Losing the majority of the fight and eventually winning by a KO isn't a dominant performance.

Knocking your opponent the fornicate out is the very definition of dominance. Particularly your dangerous mandatory.

Dominant performance means a complete outboxing of an opponent, not just knocking him out. Obviously knocking a guy out makes a win inarguable, but that doesn't necessarily makes an overall winner's performance dominant.

Bottom line - AJ has has 22 fights whichbin reality is nothing.

He’s beaten Whyte, Wlad, Parker, Povetkin and other decent fighters like Brazeale and Takam.

This is way more than Fury and Wilder have achieved, way more.

Who knows who wins in fights between these 3? The point is AJ is generally exciting to watch, takes risks and after 22 fights has 3 belts and a better dance card than his main rivals.

If you hate him or want him to lose you need to get out of the house more.

If I may try to answer that in a roundabout way.

You have listed a lot of reasons to be a fan of AJ and there are a lot more but emotions do not work like that and who we support and like is an emotional response.

It could be likened to some girl you are friends with who ticks every box - great looking, funny, trustworthy, probably shags like the world is about to end, family and friends love her, you click and get on great, independent and on and on and everyone is like "you guys should date," but you dont, because there is "something" missing and you or she simply does not want that. No reason, its an emotional response.

And for me, the boxes are ticked for AJ but my emotional response is not to be a fan and the head does not rule the heart, the heart rules it all.

So to say someone not liking him needs to "get out more" is a naive, blinkered thing to say which does not understand that liking someone is not down to facts and logic. Humans do not work that way

And your response relates to the point in what way?

No one asked what you would rather see, as I am sure most would agree with you and of course I do too. You used the word "dominant" and defended it and I responded to that, not what you, me or anyone else would rather see.

People can like or dislike all they want and for a variety of reasons at the end of the day.

Just seems a little weird bringing promoters in to it!

I’m not a massive fan of Joshua, although I am a fan. I think he’s great for the sport. He’s the type who has the kids wanting to go down their local gym and try boxing and that’s a massive positive.

KO is the biggest act of dominance in the sport.
