This Friday night on allegedly unbeaten prospect Haney fight former 3 time world Super Featherweight challenger Burgos in a Lightweight contest
Seen Haney a couple of times on undercards and he's impressed but the opposition has been pretty shocking for someone RJJ and Mayweather Sr seem to be touting as the next big thing apparently, Burgos lost 2 title fights on points to Hasegawa and Mikey, also drew another with Roman Martinez which I remember thinking he was unlucky not to get the win
He's a tough game fighter Burgos and Haney looks sharp and its a step up finally for him, styles should gel well, Burgos getting on a bit but still a decent statement if Haney can get him out of there, i'll go with the younger fresher Haney to win a comfortable decision, might even stop Burgos late

Re: Devin Haney vs Juan Carlos Burgos
Haney wins a wide decision, I had him winning 98-92, I thought the 2 shutout scores were harsh but no doubt Burgos was outboxed, he did have success early with left hooks to the head and downstairs but he dropped the workrate and it allowed Haney to toy with him for the most part, he wobbled Burgos badly with an uppercut in the middle rounds and looked like he was there for the taking but he showed his cojones and experience by getting through it
Haney's a tidy boxer, quick and good footwork but he should've been warned for constant use of the arm, all night he was doing it, holding it against Burgos and tagging him with the right hand, he hit Burgos with some heavy shots late in the fight but could never hurt Burgos the way he did earlier

Really hope they put the brakes on a tiny bit or just make the trajectory increases a little less steep.handsofstone wrote: ↑29 Sep 2018, 12:42 Haney wins a wide decision, I had him winning 98-92, I thought the 2 shutout scores were harsh but no doubt Burgos was outboxed, he did have success early with left hooks to the head and downstairs but he dropped the workrate and it allowed Haney to toy with him for the most part, he wobbled Burgos badly with an uppercut in the middle rounds and looked like he was there for the taking but he showed his cojones and experience by getting through it

A talented 19 year old shouldn’t be promoting and headlining his own shows in non-title bouts.
There must be a huge pressure career wise and financially.
I hope he’s got a manager who takes the strain and lets him concentrate on his boxing.
3-4 fights against faded or lighter ‘names’ is ok.
The kids a talent but IMO he’d improve his skillset and profile on high profile top rank/ golden boy/ Matchroom USA undercards.
