Oscar Escandon vs Brandon Figueroa

Post by handsofstone »

Supposed to be fighting this sunday night on allegedly but Ortiz has been arrested and charged with rape, no sure what exactly is happening but last I heard the fight was still going ahead :o

As far as the fight itself is concerned I was actually looking forward to it, both fun guys who've been around the block and been in with top top opposition and managed to win on occasion, Ortiz looks shot although I was surprised to see him get a draw with Alexander last time out

I like Molina Jr he's a tough cookie and I wasn't surprised to see him school Provodnikov, ive never liked Ortiz, he's fun to watch but comes across as a wanker and I loved seeing Mayweather take him out like that, perfectly fine by me that one, Molina Jr did get took apart from Crawford but he's in the majority there

Rape aside I see Molina Jr breaking that pretty weak heart of Ortiz, cant see Ortiz standing up to Molina's bombs

Did Ortiz turn himself in as a way of quitting before the fight even started? (sorry couldn't help myself)

Oscar Escandon vs Brandon Figueroa been bumped to top of the bill , Escandon is a former world title challenger, was stopped in 7 from Russell Jr and also also mixed in some decent company, Figueroa is unbeaten but has fought no one, I'm assuming this fights at Featherweight

Interesting view which may have some merit.

I believe the warrant for Ortiz' arrest was just issued even though the case has been under investigation since March.

I suppose Ortiz wouldn't have been too hard to locate since he's a high profile guy. So LE undoubtedly would have nabbed him before the fight took place.

Barnstormer of a fight, Figueroa KOs Escandon in the 10th and last round, it was a toe to toe war from the first bell, both guys just stood in the pocket and slugged it out to head and body, a few infringements along the way but it was never messy and the ref didn't have to do much apart from warn Escandon a few times for low blows, Figueroa had a bit more quality on his shots and was probably held the ring more but it was a slugfest, both guys must've threw near 80/100 punches a round, Escandon's a bull

Figueroa buzzed Escandon a few times but never really looked like knocking him out but he caught Escandon with a sweet right uppercut in the last round to finish things, Escandon tried to get up but he was like a new born giraffe, there's a lot to like about Figueroa, he's quick, his shots have a lot of snap, can fight at a pace and looks tough but he needs to learn how to focus on defence, he cant fight like that for too long, he is tall and can switch hit but was too intent on having a tear up, he got away with it against Escadon but fighting like that is hazardous to his health
