How will Lomachenko age?

Post by halfamill »

Will he age gracefully like Mayweather and Hopkins or will he crash and burn like Roy Jones?

One day at a time like the rest of us. :TU:

On a serious note, Jones Jr's skills weren't fundamentally-sound, as he relied on his remarkable athleticism to dominate his opponents. When his physical capabilities declined, so did his performance levels, which resulted in several really bad losses.

Hopkins and Mayweather Jr. weren’t gifted physically, but their high ring IQ and skill levels provided them with the ability to adapt their fighting styles to cater for their ageing bodies.

I’d say that Lomachenko is likely to follow the same route as Hopkins and Mayweather Jr. However, all it takes for some fighters is one brutal defeat to ruin their careers, so it’s far from guaranteed that Vasyl will be able to enjoy the same career longevity as those two American legends did.

Hopkins and Mayweather Jr. had remarkably rare careers and it might be unreasonable to expect Lomachenko to achieve the same feat.

No he won't go the way of Jones Jr. Jones wasn't that skilled fundamentally, he replied heavily on this extraordinary speed and reflexes. Once those went, he was fvcked. Mayweather, Hopkins and Loma are amazing at the boxing fundamentals which is why they can box well in to their 30s and 40s

..I believe Loma has got a lot of wear and tear as an amateur, you should also consider that he's not boxing on his home turf which means that the chances of getting screwed are somewhat higher..
