John Armour labels Dale Robinson a stepping-stone

Post by bennie »

FORMER WBU bantamweight champion Johnny Armour returns to the ring in December when he takes on Huddersfield star Dale Robinson for a title, believed to be either the vacant English or vacant Commonwealth bantamweight title.
"I know I can beat Robinson and am looking at the fight as a stepping stone to get me back up again," said Armour, who hasn't fought since being outclassed by Nathan Sting for the WBU title in the summer of 2003.
"Dale Robinson is a good opponent for me because he suits my style and I should beat him comfortably. He always comes forward and I certainly won't have to go looking for him."
The 35-year-old Chatham veteran added: "I shouldn't have taken the Sting fight because I didn't have enough time to prepare. I should have pulled out.
"But this fight is too important. It's make or break."

Well, Armour certainly sound ambitious and if he wants to win some kind of world honour then he will have to see our very own Richter Scale as a stepping stone.

So much for me saying Armour was retired, I was going to eliminate him from my rankings, but not now.

Its a good fight, although I think Dale will have too much - I worry about the natural size difference (given that Armour has had a crack at Super Bantam and wouldn't dream of fighting at Flyweight).

However, if Francis Ampofo can beat him twice (didn't get the decision) and Nathan Sting can outbox and then outpunch Armour, I really think Dale will win this one. Nathan Sting is probably (at this moment) a better fighter than Dale, but Dale can box a similar way to Sting and I think that is fundamental to this fight.

Armour's 35 year old battle hardned legs will struggle to catch up with Robinson and he also swells and cuts badly.

I can see Dale winning this by a stoppage, he'll be too young and strong for Armour who should really stay retired I think.

my mastermind tactic should send you well on the way to victory. I expect a cheque in the post within the next week. cheers :TU:

Seriously Armour shouldn't be fighting. It's sad to see Armour and guys like Wayne Rigby continue, they are dis-illusioned.

The answer to this equation is simple… Dale Robinson will win… Without any effort whatsoever.

will take a bit of effort, I don't doubt that Dale will win, but Armour won't be a pushover. Last chance saloon for him.

If Armour has trained properly then this will be a good fight, the Nathan Sting fight was a bad one for him, wrong style and he met a fighter in good form.

I can see Armour starting out quickly, testing Robinson, may even surprise a few of you who are saying he's completly shot.

i will put my money on a late round stoppage for Robinson, may be because of eye damage to Armour.

Dale expect a tougher fight than a few are predicting on here. good luck :TU:

I dont think anyone is saying its going to be easy. But Armours best days are behind him and he's been in some tough fights.

After reading this, it will be a little bit funny if Robinson loses to Armour. I think it's a 50:50 match-up myself. Don't really rate Robinson that much in terms of ability and power, and I'm not afraid to say that, but he's a nice fella. :TU:

i see it more 60:40 in favour of Robinson, just a bit fresher than Armour

Armour ought to accept his fighting days are over. He's messing people around with talk of getting up there again - but looked so shot against Sting it just ain't gonna happen.

I reckon if Johnny Armour flaps his jaw like that when he gets in the ring with Dale it might just end up broken!!!

I`ve seen Dale fight and in the gym on many occasions and I reckon that Armour is the stepping stone in the has been has got his words muddled!

You go show him whats what Dale
