Dont think there's a thread for this, seems to be going under the radar of Wilder/Fury, pretty incredible fight actually, I had Welborn losing the Langford rematch and he here he is fighting for the WBA/IBF Super Welterweight titles on a massive card Stateside against an unbeaten champion
I thought Hurd looked great against Lara and thought it was wider than a SD, had Lara down in the last round with a top drawer combination and it was probably the best ive seen Hurd after a few sluggish starts previously in other fights
As much as i'll be rooting for Welborn its about as formality you can get in a boxing match, he has next to zero chance, Hurd is an absolute beast at 154, I cant see Welborn lasting 3 rounds unfortunately, maybe Hurd might have one of his slow starts but either way its gonna end up heavy weather

True that! There is seemingly no regard for this fight, although I agree Hurd will dispatch Welborn handily.handsofstone wrote: ↑27 Nov 2018, 16:04 Dont think there's a thread for this, seems to be going under the radar of Wilder/Fury, pretty incredible fight actually, I had Welborn losing the Langford rematch and he here he is fighting for the WBA/IBF Super Welterweight titles on a massive card Stateside against an unbeaten champion

No disrespect to Welborn, there's dozens of fighters every years who get undeserved world title shots so all the best to him I hope he can somehow pull it off but from Hurd's teams point of view, this is embarrassing

Re: Jarrett Hurd vs Jason Welborn
Massive kudos to Welborn for coming to win when it was clear beforehand it was a non starter, some guys who get undeserved title shots on the big stage freeze and its over before its begun, Lockett and Rose come to mind but Welborn come out in the 1st and gave it a right go, bullying Hurd on the ropes and just simply letting his fists fly which is all you can ask, Hurd looked a bit uncomfy but you knew he hadn't got going yet, Welborn caught him a couple of times with big right hands around the guard
Hurd looked more annoyed than anything and when he come out for the 4th you had a feeling it wouldn't last much longer, the right to the solur was a sickener, cant fault Welborn for effort, bodyshots have always been his Achilles, Hurd's massive for a 154lb fighter but his stock probably dipped a little after that showing
