Anthony Yarde vs Israel Duffus

Post by maverick23 »

So 2 days before the fight, Yarde finally has his opponent confirmed.

Another pointless fight for him.

FW only said a week or so ago that fans won’t be disappointed with his opponent so whoever they had lined up must have fallen through.

They never had anyone lined up. It’s a nothing fights always has been..

Like when he fought at the Cowboys stadium. Just a filler and to earn a decent pay check.

Why do they keep matching him with bums.

Maybe they know something we don’t

Well if it was always a nothing fight why say that fans will be happy with the choice of opponent?!

This must be the first ever case of a promoter lying to divert an awkward question.

Warren said a while back it will be televised in the UK on the BT telecast.

I assume this will still be the case despite the difficulties with the opponent.

Boxing Social interview.

He was asked if criticism of Yarde's opponents was justified. He said no. This was one minute after admitting Yarde had no opponent yet lined up for a fight which was 3 days away.

was always going to be a nobody opponent in what is just a minor minor part of the undercard, yardes just there as filler and a small fish on this type of show in the us

look at how uncompetitive the undercard is and the late late notice, dont act surprised lol

I'm not surprised. I'm just frustrated at seeing him fight knock over jobs man. He's meant to be (or is being billed as) this killer who's gonna strike fear in to everyone but he's not fought a live body yet... He's deffo a decent offensive fighter but I want to see him under pressure and chin checked before I can get behind him...

What do you think of Pascal as an opponent? He's done at world level but could be a great test for guys like Yarde if he carries on fighting? Personally I'd like to see him retire but he's a good opponent for guys in Yardes position...

lol at those comments, if ppl think yardes been fighting cans check burtons record, tbf though burton seemed reasonable there.

if yardes not fighting at least at euro level (or non euro equivalent) next after the us outing it should at least be a recognable domestic name for some interest .

Taking Yarde slow is fine, but he'll go stale - being 1/10 at the bookies is just about ok, but any shorter is taking the vinegar. .

Not just going stale, but bowling guys over does nothing to improve defence or ring IQ for the future.
Guys that get matched too soft for too long tend to struggle the first time they are actually tested.
I'm all for the sort of route Taylor, Joshua and currently Cheeseman took.

What is the benefit in this sort of fight? I get occasionally having someone fight a can abroad just to get used to fighting away/the travel etc. But if this is to introduce him to the yanks none will see it on telly and no one will be in the arena so that wont happen so genuinely what is the benefit he might as well headline Brentwood again.
