Wilder vs. Fury: Boxing Insiders Scores
There's obviously more out there, but BS sought the scores of 14 boxing insiders...
Mike Coppinger, RingTV.com (116-110, Tyson Fury)
Steve Farhood, Showtime (115-111, Tyson Fury)
Norm Frauenheim, spam.com (113-113)
It was a fight that exceeded expectations. Both fighters were a surprise. Nobody thought Fury would or could get up, especially for a 12th-round knockdown. Wilder is at his best when pushed to the brink of defeat.
Andreas Hale, Sporting News (113-113) - Although Fury was brilliant defensively, the early rounds were far from definitive and could have gone Wilder’s way off of sheer activity.
The two dramatic knockdowns saved Wilder from defeat on my card. This was far from a robbery and the right decision in the most important heavyweight fight on American soil since Lewis-Tyson in 2002.
Keith Idec, BS.com (114-112, Tyson Fury)
Kevin Iole, YahooSports.com (113-113)
I thought Fury was clearly the better boxer, but he wasn’t active enough. And while I vehemently disagree that Wilder won the first four rounds, I also disagree with the contention I’ve heard that Fury dominated those rounds. There wasn’t a lot to pick from in a lot of rounds.
Paulie Malignaggi, Showtime (115-111, Tyson Fury)
Lance Pugmire, Los Angeles Times (114-112, Deontay Wilder)
Dan Rafael, ESPN.com (114-112, Deontay Wilder)
John Raspanti, MaxBoxing.com (114-112, Tyson Fury) - I scored the fight for Fury. Other than the two knockdowns, I thought Fury controlled bout, utilizing his quick hands and feet.
Cliff Rold, BS.com (114-112, Tyson Fury) - I had it 8-4 for Fury. I thought Fury out-boxed and at times outclassed him through much of the night, winning five of the first eight and splitting the last third of the fight. Its hard to get to five rounds for Wilder; it seems impossible to get to seven. Rochin has a similarly baffling score in Danny Garcia-Mauricio Herrera too.
Mike Rosenthal, BS.com (113-113) - I don’t believe that was a robbery, as Fury supporters are suggesting. Wilder definitely won rounds 10-through-8. It’s not a stretch to say that Fury won seven of the remaining 10. That makes it a draw.
Joe Santoliquito, RingTV.com (113-113) - I was surprised how nimble Tyson Fury was and how inaccurate Deontay Wilder was. There is no controversy here. Wilder's two knockdowns balances out Fury's points he accumulated by outgoing Wilder in portions of the fight.
Bob Velin, Premiere Boxing Champions (114-112, Deontay Wilder) - I had it for Wilder, the difference being the ninth and 12th, the 10-8 rounds. I had each guy winning six rounds. The reason I gave that many rounds to Wilder is that I liked his aggressiveness throughout the fight.
Though he missed a lot of punches, he was going after it. Wilder obviously hurt Fury at least twice. While I think Wilder was buzzed at least once, and was gassed the last few rounds, he was pressing the action and should’ve won by 12th-round KO.
Total: 6 for Tyson fury, 3 for Deontay Wilder, 5 even.

The people scoring for Wilder or a draw are just trying to appear edgy.
No sane person can have Wilder winning.

Idiotic comment and disappointing to see from a long term poster. Makes me question anything you've posted and will make others more likely to disregard your comments in future discussions.
Fury lost two rounds 10-8. So he had to win the 8 of the remaining 10 rounds to win the fight. He would be winning the fight 113-112 if he won 8 of the other 10 rounds.
Please think before you post.

I haven't scored it but watched it twice and I thought Fury won. I will score it at some point as sometimes they end up being closer than you think they are.

Wilder won at least 3 rounds of the remaining 10 for me
The first round could be given to wilder easily. Any of the rounds 5 through 8 can also be given to wilder. Pretty close rounds though. Even the 11th.

Anyone scoring 5, 6 or 7 rounds for Wilder is scoring with a bias, IMO. I find it difficult to make a case for him winning that many rounds.

Overused and overrated word. Fury didn't really rip the title from him. It wasn't too far off from the Wlad fight, apart from the KD's, Fury just 'did a little more' than Wilder most rounds. Wilder was a little less hesitant than Wlad was.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑03 Dec 2018, 07:43 Iscored it 113-113. The word robbery is overused these days.
I scored the fight for Fury BTW..
People cry robbery when the official scorecards don't match their or a result doesn't go their way.
Re: Wilder vs. Fury: Boxing Insiders Scores
Dan Rafael was sitting ringside snd tweeting his scoring live. Like me he gave wilder r1, 2, 4 & 5. Then you have 2 knockdowns.jameswilson wrote: ↑03 Dec 2018, 06:27 The people scoring for Wilder or a draw are just trying to appear edgy.

Stop acting like it's some major controversy - barely anything happened for the first half, Fury himself did a whole lot of zero.

Re: Wilder vs. Fury: Boxing Insiders Scores
When Fury hit the canvas heavily in the 12th, dozens of top flight refs would have waved the fight off and Wilder would have won. Fury may have been badly injured, impossible to tell. Did Fury even beat the count? The points don't add up either, but that's boxing, its happened so many times over the years.jameswilson wrote: ↑03 Dec 2018, 06:27 The people scoring for Wilder or a draw are just trying to appear edgy.

Watched it again for the third time and scored it 115-112 for Fury. No way Wilder won that.

Just had a rewatch and he’s up in nine seconds there’s nothing like 22 seconds between him going down and getting up, not sure what on earth you’re on about.

It was like 9.2 seconds..
I think people are referring to after he got up.. all the walk over there and walk to me stuff the ref was doing with Fury. But I think that was much needed by the ref. Fury DID beat the count. The ref was just making sure he could continue
Re: Wilder vs. Fury: Boxing Insiders Scores
Yeah the ref can take as long as he likes can’t he? Fury was up by 9 the count was definitely not 22zRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑03 Dec 2018, 11:50It was like 9.2 seconds..

Re: Wilder vs. Fury: Boxing Insiders Scores
The ref has a full ring. Wilder is over in the neutral corner. All he has to do is take a couple of steps back and say "walk to me". Thats what I've seen some refs do for the entire time I've been watching boxing. Theres no need for this walk over there and then walk back. Ridiculous and it gave Fury 22 seconds to recover. OK, he barely beats the 10 count and I get the ref has to see if he's ok but it shouldn't take 12 seconds. It's a simple 3 second job at the most. Reiss reminds me of Steve Smoger. A ref that really enjoys putting himself in the mix and overexaggerating.
I do prefer american refs by and large. Obviously they are better than the terrible british troup. Arthur Mercante is a great ref

Re: Wilder vs. Fury: Boxing Insiders Scores
fury was out beat the count, the ref used a regular procedure to make sure fury is able to defend himself, no extra time, nothing shady whatsoever.
Wilder was out on his feet, stumbled in his corner then after the regular break, the ref sends ortiz who's ready to finish the job to the neutral corner & the doctors check god knows what on wilder, which they should've done if found necessary during the break. Extra time for wilder, shady as shit.

Only Dianne Abbott would be so poor at counting to say it was a 22 second count.

Fury lost two rounds 10-8. So he had to win the 8 of the remaining 10 rounds to win the fight. He would be winning the fight 113-112 if he won 8 of the other 10 rounds.
