"Canelo makes WBA history" quiz (rubbish)

Post by T.M.K »

https://fightnews.com/

"When Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez dethroned super middleweight champion Rocky Fielding on Saturday, he became just the fifth champion to hold a WBA world title in three divisions, and the first champion to accomplish the feat above featherweight.

Canelo’s WBA triple crown:
2013 vs. Austin Trout (WBA super welterweight)
2018 vs. Gennady Golovkin (WBA middleweight)
2018 vs. Rocky Fielding (WBA super middleweight)

Can you name the other four?"

I sat there for a while struggling, because 3 were quite easy.............. but the 4th? I ended up voting for a Japanese fighter who I was fairly sure was incorrect, just because I couldn't think of a 4th.

When I saw the answers it just made me want to thump the WBA for their s*** titles strategy. :stop: :brick: :stop:

Leonard
Hearns?

Tbh, Canelo should have took a crack at the WW belt. He was the NABF champion for a while?

There wasn’t really many weak champions though I don’t think.

Me?

I became WBA light middleweight champion by opening a box of All Bran this morning.

This is added to the WBA welterweight championship I found in a box of Bran Flakes in 2014 and the WBA Super lightweight title I won in 2008 for phoning my mother.

Im so jelous!
I ate Bran Flakes until my poop resembled fence posts trying for that belt.
Are you going for a tour of the factory now?
If so, can you shag an ompa lompa for me? I've always wanted to dip into the orange oyster.

Hmm...I'm gonna guess Pac, Oscar, Floyd and maybe Broner? I know Broner won belts in 3 weight classes, and I'm pretty sure the WBA was the title in at least 2 of 'em. I'm pretty sure it was the belt he won at 140 too the more I think about it.

Broner being a 3 weight Champion is probably THE prime example of how easily won the WBA's title is, because he would've never won a title at 140 or 147 from the better guys in those divisions.

Isn’t he 4-weight?

He won the WBA at 140 and 147.. won the WBC at Super Feather. Not sure about lightweight.

No, none of the above.....

1) Wilfredo Vasquez (who gave up his 3rd-weight title to face Naseem Hamed for the WBO version).

2) Leo Gamez (who was so popular with the WBA they gave him extra chances to become a 4-weight WBA champ, and then multiple attempts to become a 5-weight.

3) Kazuto Ioka (although his "regular" title is debatable, and he vacated at the wrong time).

Their 4th example was including an Interim Bauble!

I am not accepting Nonito Donaire and his WBA SuperFlyweight strap. :stop:
