Your personal Mount Rushmore of favorite fighters?
It's tough to narrow down for sure. Some fighters that I loved watching growing up miss out as do some that I've loved from researching and collecting their fights. Tito was the fighter that stood out for me when I was getting into the sport as a kid in the mid 90's and Marquez was a fighter I followed from so early and absolutely loved his style. I would travel to go see all of his fights once I was old enough. I'd have to see he's been my favorite fighter.
My personal Mount Rushmore would be :-
Juan Manuel Marquez
Felix Trinidad
Eder Jofre
Salvador Sanchez

Great question and very tough! Robinson, Gavilan, Ike Williams, Pep. I could make a Mount Rushmore for each weight division; so many favorites !

Chuvalo, Ali, Duran and Hagler.
Re: Your personal Mount Rushmore of favorite fighters?
Salvador Sanchez
Alexis Arguello
Julio Cesar Chavez
Mike McCallum
The top three are easy for me. Ten guys could fit into the last spot. So many favorites.

Tito
RJJ
Holyfield
Pacquiao
Had I started watching earlier, I'm sure the mount would be somewhat different.

- Big George, Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, Sam Langford, Manny Pacquiao, Aaron Pryor, Salvador Sanchez, Eder Jofre, Marvin Hagler, The KBros, Jimmy Barry, Tom Cribb in Valhalla, not some dinky Rushmore.
That's 13 greats all told, 13 being my lucky number. I like plenty of fighters as fighters, but many of the top guys weren't the sorts I'd want to hang around. These guys are not only great, but down to earth gentlemen with only Aaron being the wild card. But I wouldn't have any drugs around, just beer, traditional BBQ, and open serve yourself bar, so I'm sure he would be in such awe that he'd be cool. Since this is fantasy, everyone gets to chose their age, presumably somewhere in their primes, and strictly stag though if Sal wants to bring a beautiful translator, I'm sure we'd all be in for that.
And, yeah, veggies for Eder
Be out in our hill country in the middle of 50 acres with plenty of native Pecan, Live Oak, and Mesquite harvested to fire up the best BBQ in the US. Big George and I would get there first to set up, and the other's via a heavy duty extended van with Marv being the most modern American driving from the Hotel. We'd be under an 800 square foot tin shed for shade and weather protection in case of spring rains. Let the guys pick their best fight and show it on big screen set up.
Maybe in Valhalla some day, ya never know!

Always disappointing to see people rank a sleazeball like Duran as one of their favorite fighters.

Acted like a jerk after the fight? Check
Quit for no legitimate reason other than losing? Check
Dirty fighter? Check

Imagine that. A sport where you try to hurt your opponent having low life's in it.oogiebe wrote: ↑27 Feb 2019, 12:01C'mon Alp, the sweet science is littered with sleazeballs.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑27 Feb 2019, 11:49 Always disappointing to see people rank a sleazeball like Duran as one of their favorite fighters.

Especially the brutal horror of making excuses about defeat. You definitely don't see that everyday. Much more despicable than holding your wife prisoner in your home.tiny_acres wrote: ↑27 Feb 2019, 13:18Imagine that. However, there are plenty of other guys that weren't. You can certainly find 4 that weren't.
I Appreciate it when guys that didn't make crybaby excises after losing. Not talking about about complaining about losing a close decision. Talking about the dog ate my homework excuses.
Anyway, I didn't like the guys I knew were terrible human beings regardless of how good they are. Crazy notion I guess.

Going strictly by importance, would probably go with:
Sullivan, Johnson, Louis, and Ali.
