Emmanuel Navarrete vs. Isaac Dogboe II - May 11, 2019

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Dogboe's adviser Mike Altamura has advised BS.com that the fight will happen on a date to be determined in May.

"We've agreed to terms for the rematch. We are waiting for our promoter Top Rank to finalize the date. At this stage I can confirm that it will bein May," Altamura told BS.com.

Dogboe has a rematch clause that he is exercising. After the fight Dogboe's father and coach said that they underestimated the 24-year-old Mexican and didn't have a very good camp.

Altamura believes his fighter will put on a much better performance this time around and will be in better shape.

"The timing of this fight is perfect. Isaac is already in camp and will be in prime condition," said Altamura.

Ballsy move by a Dogboe..

50/50 leaning towards Navarrete.. size difference was key.

Saw nothing to suggest Dogboe can turn it around. Navarrete, decision, wide.

The beating Dogboe took, he must have a really effective plan.

Can’t see the rematch being much different than the first, possibly more comfortable for navarrete

Remember, not too long ago when everyone was so wowed by Dogboe for easily knocking around Magdaleno and Otake?

Now no one sees him beating Navarette in a rematch, even though the Mexican wasn't highly regarded before they fought the first time.

The elites tumble quickly, don't they?

Agreed. Navarrette fought some of the first fight with a bad hand, if I remember correctly. He stops him in the rematch.

Can’t see any brutal knockdowns but may stop Dogboe late on his feet

Gotta give big kudos to Dogboe here for wanting this rematch as bad as it went for him the 1st time. If he can't have a better showing this time I wonder if he could make 118? He'd be very strong there, but even at 122 I figure he'd still rank among the best even if he just can't find a way past Navarette.

Dogboe is a game, and gutsy fighter though. I do believe he'll give a better effort this time, and will have a better idea of what he's faced with this time. Still not sure he'll win, but I don't think he'll do as bad as he did the 1st time.

The expected rematch between Emmanuel Navarrete and Isaac Dogboe is budgeted to be held as the co-feature to another rematch, between Miguel "Alacrán" Berchelt and Francisco "Bandido" Vargas, which is taking place on May 11.

According to ESPN Deportes, sources close to the organization of the event have said that both Navarrete and Dogboe have been notified of the date. Initially it was scheduled for April 20 in the support of ESPN pay-per-view event featuring the welterweight clash between Terence Crawford and Amir Khan. at Madison Square Garden in New York.

the card of rematches where the loser got pummelled the first time, why not add lopez-magdaleno 2 to make it a triple header :KO:

The whole “we underestimated him and did not prepare seriously” rationalization is going to get Dogboe hurt.

BS.com previously first reported that the Miguel Berchelt-Francisco Vargas rematch would be rescheduled for May 11th and that WBO super bantamweight champion Emanuel Navarrete would face Isaac Dogboe in an immediate rematch of their December clash that Navarrete won in a major upset.

We have now been advised that the doubleheader will take place at the Convention Center in Tucson, Arizona. The fight will be televised live on ESPN.

Sometimes it's not about quality. The other guy just has your number.

I think Nav beats Dogboe pretty easy again. I'd also still pick Dogboe over Magdaleno.

Dogboe needs an easy touch after the punishment he absorbed in that last fight with Navarrete, the ref should have stopped the last fight before it ever reached it's conclusion.

That’s a simple explanation most of the time and true as well.

I give Dogboe a great shot.

Much more technical. Navarette won the first fight on his physical advantages.

Hopefully Dogboe can adapt this time and win convincingly.

Despite his very good record, Navarette wasn't exactly highly regarded coming into the Dogboe fight.

He was a significant underdog. His resume didn't exactly boast any wins over top level guys.

Navarette is a slight 2-1 favorite in the rematch.
