Johnny Garton vs Chris Jenkins

Post by handsofstone »

Garton makes the first defence of his British Welterweight title on the Dubois card this Friday against Jenkins, I'm expecting a lot of blood here, Jenkins fought his career down at Super Lightweight and has never really been able to win when stepping up, he had a draw and close loss to Nurse for the British and last time I seen was when he got early in the TD with Foley, his fight before that with Ennis Brown ended in a TD as well so you know he's got that tendency to cut and with his aggressive style its always a big possibility and with Garton's come forward style i'd be very surprised if at least one man is cut

I thought Garton was excellent against Corcoran, it was a big step up for him and although it was close for 8 rounds, Garton really broke a tough, durable guy down, Jenkins is tough, never been stopped but up at 147 with Garton's style coming head on with his own I think he'll stop him late, I hope its not messy or a cut stops it, Jenkins is game and he'll have success early I reckon but Garton to stop him late is my bet

It will be a good fight. Jenkins was a bit avoided at light welter, too good to be in the away corner, not good enough or sold enough tickets to be invested in.
As is typical in boxing he now gets a shot at the weight above after inactivity and some losses and some some years on the clock.
