The oldschool styles and tehcniques to beat top heavyweights of today!

Post by Winter king »

Recently I watched Roberto Duran and young George Foreman fights in my freetime and I was wondering why I dont see these cinching pushing wrestling moves anymore? The way Duran neutralized the arms of guys and delivered those crisp short punches and the Way Foreman stopped SMoking Joe just by putting his hands on his shoulders and blocking his arms is crazy. I just have a hard time imagining WIlder or Joshua dealing with these techniques(especially Wilder) . I am very curious about of your opinions you guys because in spariing I realised just by pushing the arms and blocking the shoulders and at the bicps pullin gon guard is so outragesouly simply that people cant handle it most of the times(of course I am no standard)

I think an issue might be the current thinking amongst referees.
The era your talking about and before, this 'grappling' was pretty normal and I think it probably came about due to the 15 round duration of championship fights, when fighters and officials realised that it was very difficult to go the distance throwing punches all the time.
Nowadays I'm pretty certain referees would step in pretty quickly and 'break' the boxers up and if the 'grappling' continued a points deduction would follow.
Only a suggestion.

Heavyweights threw more punches even 30 years ago than welterweights do now.
