The newest bio on Marciano. Good book. Well written. Does not offer much that wouldn’t be known to fans of boxing history, but the book is enjoyable.
I didn’t know the story about Rocky and Louis riding in a car driven by Lou Duva in Miami on the eve of the first Ali v Liston fight and, while listening to the radio and finding out how much money was being made, simultaneously both guys jumped out of Lou’s car to “do some roadwork” so they could make comebacks and make that kind of money!
That’s a great story.
Also, it cannot be said enough: Al Weill makes Don King look like saint.
How Marciano could stay focused under Al’s management is beyond me.
World could use a few guys like Charley Goldman, these days, too.
