I think it is great for the health of the sport to have big boxing matches any night of the week. Most of the big ones will be on Saturday nights but boxing has become a niche sport in the past 3-5 decades (depending on who you talk to). Back in the 1950-60s there were nationally broadcast bouts on Wednesday, Friday & Saturday nights on network TV (ABC, NBC, CBS). In the 1970s-80s a lot of big fights were shown on Saturday or Sunday afternoons on ABC's "Wide World of Sports" and CBS "Sports Spectacular" featuring global stars like Leonard, Duran & Monzon. In the 1990s a lot of basic cable channels jumped on board with Fight Night at the Forum Monday nights on Fox Sports Network plus Tuesday Night Fights on USA Network. Telemundo, Univision and Galavision have done the same in the past as well for the Spanish-speaking fan.
Most of the mainstream sports are on TV many nights of the week:
* NFL Monday Night Football & Thursday Night Football
* NBA games are shown just about every night of the week by one network or another
* Major League Baseball same thing.
* Soccer is shown many different nights in countries where the sport is big
The more different nights that a casual fan can tune into a quality boxing match on TV the better it is for the popularity of the sport as a whole!!
