Demetrius Andrade vs. Maciej Sulecki - June 29, 2019

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Demetrius Andrade is set to defend his WBO middleweight strap against Maciej Sulecki.

Andrade has been in fine form of late after claiming the vacant title left behind by Billy Joe Saunders.

Sulecki, also 29, recently saw off Gabe Rosado in a tough Philadelphia scrap. The US-based Pole gets the reward offered to both fighters prior to the contest by promoter Eddie Hearn.

An accompanying undercard is likely to see many young prospects given the chance to shine. A usual feature on DAZN events of late.

In terms of venue, New York would be the current frontrunner. The likes of San Antonio, Las Vegas and Los Angeles cannot be ruled out at this stage.

I’m sure he trains mostly in Poland too.

Could have done a triple threat match. Andrade vs. Sulecki vs. Rosado. Lol

Sulecki looking vulnerable after getting bounced off the canvas a few times by the rugged but shopworn Rosado.

That might have convinced Andrade that he's in safe with Sulecki.

Just a nice warmup for his September unification bout with Canelo.

yes. he trained at Warsaw Athletics Center with Andrzej Gmitruk, now he trains in Dzierżoniów, southwestern Poland, with Piotr Wilczewski. he trains in Poland only, not mostly. previously he trained in USA with Chico Rivas but now he trains only in Poland.

50/50 fight but i'd favour Sulecki. the problem with him is that he loses concentration in late rounds, sometimes he's too self confident as well.

if Sulęcki will be in shape like vs Jacobs i am convinced that he'll win. he has to improve his clinching skills, concentration + he has to keep his hands up always, sometimes he forgots about that. he completely dominated Rosado until round 9.

but hard-hitting Jacobs didn't. it's a thing with concentration rather than his chin imo.

he seems specifically to be bothered by shots around the side/back of the head. i would advise any of his opponents to be rough with him in clinches and rabbit punch, which for some reason seems allowed these days

aside from that hes a good fighter with a good straight punch game, but i expect andrade to beat him

Hey Dag.

OT I know, but I@m watching the Polish stuff on Polsat right now.
Some good scraps - Banbula got robbed.

Anyway, can you explain why Gela is fighting for the Polish WW title when he's wrapped in the Ukraine flag and listed as Ukrainian ?

Also, thoughts on the main event up next ?
cheers..

Rosado almost knocked him out. Chinny is overstated, but that damn sure isn't just concentration. I may as well just say Jacobs wasn't concentrating against him. Good honest pro, but he'll lose wide to andrade.

it's because it was Polish international title - it's the same title that Mollo won vs Zimnoch in HW. Those belts are meaningless, once for a Polish Youth Title fought a guy that was like 43 years old.

I couldn't watch this event but i am very surprised that Wierzbicki knocked out big and strong Vovk. I consider Wierzbicki as an euro level fighter with no potential to get into the world's top 15 and that's mostly due to his lack of punching power and then he knocks out Vovk, very unexpected and it's a good win, Vovk is better than his record says and especially when he's prepared. let's see if he'll make more and more progress with Gus Curren.

next on polsat, 6 april, Parzęczewski vs Chudinov, Wach vs Bakole + other decent scraps, much much bigger event than the one from yesterday, it's worth of watching definitely. Parzęczewski is an entertaining fighter, Wach vs Bakole is a fight that is actually very hard to predict imo.

Sulęcki has a hand injury and needs a quick rehabilitation, i hope it will not affect his training camp.

Maybe he won’t be Andrade’s opponent. I would like his hand to be 100%.. how did he injure it?

Sulęcki says that he will be ready for 22 or 29 june, not for 8 though

he says that he will be on rehab for about a one week, but even if it will be 2 weeks he will be ready. he is in training, he just can't punch.

the strange thing is that Sulęcki and his promoter were not informed by Hearn that Sulęcki is off, they heard it from twitter too.
[Hearn posted that Sulecki is off due to injury without talking with him or his promoter.

Sulecki might be too dangerous for Hearn s liking. Sooner or later BooBoo has to step up . He hasn't yet.
