VERY hard fight . . . I think prime for prime Holmes actually wins a decision. Holmes's jab would give Ali complete fits at any stage of his career, plus his speed and uppercut.

VERY tricky, and very good fight between two all-time greats IMO.

In the end I am giving it to Ali by for his edge in speed. I don't think either would knock the other out, but I think Ali would land more leather, taking a close decision.

More than anything I am giving it to Ali for his experience in Super Fights.

Holmes was a better all around fighter, and would have won before the last bell rang, imo.

Ali would dance around him and score his points and make Holmes crazy with his talking!

Sorry i went for Holmes TKO, when i meant to go for Holmes UD.

This would be a good, clear win for Holmes, who was always superior to Muhammad Ali anyways. The Jab, handspeed, and ability to box and fight, would beat Ali.

What a lot of you are forgetting here is the dates.

Holmes of 1978 was not the finished article he was maybe in the early 80's. He was working in the Ali camp and learning from Ali.

Ali in 1964 was blinding but still not quite the polished fighter either.

These guys didn't become legends until they had been champions for a number of years.

I personally think at this stage in their careers Ali had the edge as he had this manic rage ( Liston fight) and his hand speed was outstanding.

Larry will always remain in my top 5 all time greats but in 1978 I don't think he was quite ready for a 1964 Ali.
