Parker set for return in July
Parker set for return in July
According to Higgins, Parker is set to return to the ring sometime in July.
Some names mentioned include, Luis Ortiz, Adam Kownacki, Kubrat Pulev, Andy Ruiz Jr, Dave Allen, Derek Chisora, Lucas Browne and others. That's a long list.
It'll be good to have Parker back in action and get himself into the mix once again.

Not mentioned was Oscar Rivas. That would be a cracking fight!

I feel some kind of bitterness thinking about him. He has been mismanaged (as the majority of his compatriots - Cubans), had been competting in the obscurity for the years, in fact, he got the chance to face the top level HWs when he had been pretty over the hill. Anyway, he wasted his best years. It is very sad, I hope you will agree with me.
Several years ago, Solis has been the best example of the extremely gifted HW, who achieved nothing (or almost nothing).
Nowadays, this is Ortiz. Sad, but true.
Am I right ?

He got a late start at pro and everyone was ducking him until he got older. He could've used better promoting yes.ValMar wrote: ↑08 Apr 2019, 16:01 I feel some kind of bitterness thinking about him. I don't know, but I wouldn't doubt it. He was with matchroom and Golden Boy before. Who's he with now? PBC?

You guys are all excited about potential name opponents.
But you can bet that it will end up being Kevin Johnson.

I didn't notice anyone being excited. I'm just glad he's stepping back in the ring.SenorPipino wrote: ↑08 Apr 2019, 19:57 You guys are all excited about potential name opponents.

JUNIOR FA??!! C'mon Senor. Parker has to fight a top 20/30 at worst. I'll bet he goes against a top 25 guy at the very minimum.SenorPipino wrote: ↑08 Apr 2019, 20:28 But he's already had a nothing fight against Flores a few months back.
I'll pay attention when he ventures back to top 10 opposition.
Even Junior Fa would do.
Re: Parker set for return in July
its partly his own fault, he kept switching teams, even when it seemed to be going good for him. then he looked awful in his fights with hearn. multi time drug failure too, just like pedvetkin, though seems to mostly get a pass from ppl

Ortiz: if Parker wants to get his ass whipped
Kownacki: definitely the highest-ranked opponent that Parker could walk through like a buzz saw.
Pulev: another dude who would probably whoop Parker.
Ruiz Jr: Again? At least Ruiz is about to fight Dimitrenko on 04/20 and possibly get his first good win.
Allen: Overly easy tune-up.
Chisora: Good fight. But they already have a common opponent in Whyte, so it's sort of inbred matchmaking.
Browne: Aussie - Kiwi match-up would probably be a huge regional draw, and it'd be a walk in the park for Parker. ... Parkest.
If Parker wants to get right to the front of the line for a title shot, he should be fighting Kownacki or Rivas. If he wants to earn a shot in two fights time, he should take a tune-up against Browne or someone else perceived to be a #20-35 fighter.

Please, not 'Shades of Ali'!

He stinks and his original fight with Parker was dull, unsurprisingly and I don't think the world needs to see that again.

Re: Parker set for return in July
Where would you even rank Parker at this stage?? Seems his star has really faded since Joshua beat him and he's had some lacklustre performances and another loss to Whyte.
After the top 3 there's Whyte, Ortiz.....Miller and Breazeale maybe? How about Povetkin and Pulev?
Would Parker be around 8-12 mark for most people?

Parker is above Miller and breazeale I'd say , he hasn't looked great since before the AJ fight but Miller or breazeale haven't done anything eitherFightnight Scores wrote: ↑09 Apr 2019, 06:07 Where would you even rank Parker at this stage?? Parker's team seems keen on Chisora which is very disappointing. thats a terrible risk/reward fight. Chisora has that ability to make you look bad and beating him at this stage doesnt mean a whole lot.
Finish off Browne in a aussie-kiwi match up then go for the Ortiz' and Povetkins etc
