Andy Ruiz Jr vs Dimentrenko

Post by conan_the_cribber »

A classic "Never will be" vs a "Never was". And possibly the least enthusiastic stare down ever.

I dunno, I just hate fighters with moobies, so I threw a few coins down on Dimentrenko at 9:1. I mean sure Ruiz has a decent technique, but he also has an enormous gut and short-ass arms. Maybe Dimentrenko can fend him off for enough rounds to snatch a surprise pts decision. I certainly don't see why Ruiz should be such a screaming hot favourite.

Ruiz has pillows in his gloves. Not a bad bet.

This fight has absolutely nothing endearing about it. OP said it best.

LMFAO!!! I was just looking at that and thinking it was the saddest stare down attempt in the history of the sport!

Actually it doesn't look like a gay wedding, they were wearing too much clothes. Dimentrenko had on a shirt and a coat!
What is he going out to dinner in Vermont?

No. Very informal state but often cold. My joke, or attempt at a joke, was that Dimentrenko was not only wearing a shirt but a hood jacket, which is a typical New England garment Never seen that at a weigh in.

Ruiz is a good boxer. Dimi just sucks.

I thought Ruiz was supposed to be newly dedicated for this training camp. It’s his heaviest weight for a while...

Ruiz has better technique then Dimi, and is generally a busy fighter, so I expect him to coast to wide points victory.

This fight is about as irrelevant as they come though, in the grand scheme of things. I hate inactive fighters and Dimi is textbook gatekeeper for the top 30. Neither will ever bother the top 15.

I know, like me, you're an Al Bundy fan.

I can imagine Al saying, "My life has become so pathetic I'm actually looking forward to this fight tonight. OH God!"

Too bad that Peggy would undoubtedly be horny around fight time and Al would reluctantly be forced to do his husbandly duties instead.

Another missed opportunity.

Al may have to squeeze Peggy in between rounds. She'd have to wait for a round that cuts to a commercial break.

That's true.

Al was pretty quick on the draw.

Didn't he get beat up by Sugar Ray Leonard?

Al could always use his best self defense move. Keeping his socks on.

Probably revenge for all those feet he had to smell as a lowly shoes salesman.

There was one episode that had Leonard, Namath, Ernie Banks and others. Kelly asked Leonard. "I'm curious about your name. How did you get the name Leonard?"

For a second I thought we were getting off subject, but a mediocre HW fight and Al Bundy? We're right on subject. :OhYes:

I actually found myself looking forward to this fight tonight. Of course after anticipation the following stages kicked in:
Shame, followed by denial and then acceptance.

Very much so. There was a lack of contempt at the weight in. This is like a suburban middle school fight. They'll both hit taco bell together after the fat boy sits on him.

It was the same Ruiz Jr v Parker.

No anger or animosity.

It'll be a full affair to boot I imagine.
