Srisaket Sor Rungvisai vs Juan Francisco Estrada 2

Post by handsofstone »

This Friday on Sky Rungvisai defends his WBC Super Flyweight title in a rematch against Estrada following their first FOTY contender last year, I'm ashamed to admit I never got around to watching their first fight but i'll probably watch it before Friday, it was meant to be a war which could've went either way, ive only ever seen Rungvisai when he beat Gonzalez twice, I thought he got a gift in the first fight but he made no mistake in the rematch and destroyed an old battleworn looking Gonzalez

Ive seen Estrada a few time and he's always great value, former unified World Flyweight champ and as tough as they come, last time I seen him was the Cuadras win which was another war

Rungvisai 32 now and had some issues outside the ring, maybe Estrada is coming into this fight the fresher man despite being in his fair share of wars himself

These little men never fail to deliver, should be another action packed war

Yeah I had their first fight a draw as well. I didn't score SSRs first fight with Gonzalez but I felt he'd done enough to win at the time.

Another good fight bit of a clinic from Estrada who was class, 118-110 for me, they scores looked a bit too close IMO still at least the right man got the win, Rungvisai looked flat from the start, didn't look like he had much of a gameplan, wasn't as aggressive as he normally is, looked like he was just trying to land that 1 big shot, all the while Estrada dominated him comfortably, jabbing, moving, countering, combination punching was top drawer and the only time Rungvisai had any success was when Estrada held his feet, even then most of the time Estrada had the last word

Rungvisai kept switching but even though he looked far better as a southpaw especially in the later rounds he kept switching back to orthodox, didn't understand why, he left himself too much of a mountain to climb and he never looked like hurting Estrada to turn things around, Estrada looked fluid and everything from him just flows, really impressive dominant showing

Estrada was class last night, completely dominated the fight - classy boxing performance.

I think Estrada done enough but couldn't believe the level of bias from the Sky crew. They do the same thing all the time, talk themselves into 1 guy early, then ignore all the work the other guy does before being amazed the judges seen it different from them.

I'm nit that impressed with Wangek or Estrada in truth. Had it been an amatuer bout then Estrada wins easy but i felt much of his work was simply beating Wangek to the punch rather than landing substantial shots. Wangeks timing out of orthadox was poor but at least he was sitting on his shots. I thought Wangek edged r2, won r4 clear, then finished the championship rounds the better, due to switching SP and Estrada sticking around to trade.

Right guy got the dec & the cards i felt were accurate - all in all a reminder why I don't bother much with lower weight classes - the undercard was much more fun.

Think it's the best fight I've watched all year.
