Greatest Offensive Boxer Ever?
What boxer had the best offense ever?
However you define it.
All I hope for is you show your work (explain why).

Tommy hearns, arguably the best one punch ko artist ever, right there in jabs and right crosses, huge dimensions, great hand and foot speed and an underrated body attack. Never outboxed against great opposition. Inarguably my all time favorite.
Re: Greatest Offensive Boxer Ever?
Good and obvious shout coming from you. SRR, SRL, Louis all had a great offensive arsenal. The Hawk will certainly be mentionned. On his best day, Riddick Bowe was something too.
Re: Greatest Offensive Boxer Ever?
Not one of my favorites, but Jack Dempsey was the epitome of offense. Unrelenting; powerful; vicious; and something that had probably never been seen before his time.

Can we agree of Manny Pac?

Hearns is up there but overall I think Joe Louis. Incredible power, precision and patience.

When I think offense... I think of someone who could hurt you with a jab let alone a hook, and constantly pushing the action... By that definition I'd have to say (of the heavyweights) it's George Foreman.
Of the lighter weights... I'd have to say Sam Langford... Maybe Sandy Saddler or Henry Armstrong... Then again you don't have to hit hard to out brawl, out score, etc--- so Harry Greb just might be the purest offensive fighter of all time.

Gotta agree. I was gonna nominate Joe Louis as well. He wasn't the fastest in the world, didn't have perfect defense or footwork, but his timing, and combination punching was second to none, and he had devastating power with every shot in the book. Uppercuts, left hooks, the right cross, body shots. He could and did take guys out with all of the above.
His offense is what makes him the all time great legend that he is.

You could pick any of the fab 4 Hearns, Duran, hagler Even Leonard , then a young Tyson was up there how about zarate or Chavez .
Re: Greatest Offensive Boxer Ever?
I think the topic sentence should be something like “Other than Sugar Ray Robinson who is the Greatest Offensive Boxer Ever?” Or, maybe, “Greatest Offensive Boxer Ever Not including Sugar Ray Robinson.”
In any case, Robinson.

Hitman Hearns came to my mind first, certainly in my era of watching boxing.
Re: Greatest Offensive Boxer Ever?
Ray Arcel called Tippy Larkin a better offensive fighter than Robinson.

Aussie Great Jeff Fenech made a habit out of wearing down opponent's until he broke them with constant offence.

Bob Fitzsimmons
Re: Greatest Offensive Boxer Ever?
First thought I had was Henry Armstrong. Then Joe Louis. He was possibly the best finisher in history.

Aaron Pryor was one. At least a top 10 all time consideration.

Evander Holyfield; the speed, tenacity and combination punching. Hagler was the same way, and the accuracy of his punches made him a truly scary offensive fighter.
You can tell a great offensive fighter by the fact that they often win by more or less kicking the other guys ass, it's not a points thing...even when they manage to win on points.
