Davies will clash with former long-reigning lightweight world champion Vazquez at York Hall on June 28 – live on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank.
Long-time super-lightweight contender Ohara Davies (18-2, 14 KOs), last seen in October suffering a points defeat to WBO No.1 contender Jack Catterall, returns to action June 28 against former long-reigning lightweight world champion Miguel Vazquez (41-7, 15 KOs) at the historic York Hall in London.
Vazquez, a native of Guadalajara, Mexico, previously held the IBF world title for four years between 2010-2014 before losing to Mickey Bey via a controversial split decision in Las Vegas in September 2014.
'El Títere' made his professional debut on January 20, 2006 against a 15-year-old Canelo Álvarez in a welterweight bout, losing a four-round split decision. Vazquez, now 32, then won his next 18 contests before losing a unanimous decision to Timothy Bradley on July 27, 2007, in a bout for the WBC Youth super-lightweight title.
The 48-fight veteran now journies to the UK for the secon time in his 13-year professional career and Davies welcomes the challenge of facing one of the sport’s craftiest veterans.
Davies said: “It puts me back on the world scene and I feel like that’s where I truly belong. I’m ready to make amends and right all the wrongs from my last fight.
“I know what mistakes I made against Catterall and now I’m going to capitalise. I’ve had a quiet few months since then, but I’ve been training every day, so I’ll be the best me when I get in there.
“Some people said I should fight a journeyman and ease myself back into things, but I know what I can do.
“York Hall is not far from my house. I might even get the bus down there on the night! London is my hometown and I’m comfortable here. I have my friends and family here, and that means a lot to me.”
Stay tuned for announcements regarding more fights and fighters on the card, which will also be broadcast live on iFL TV.

Chantelle Cameron to battle Anisha Basheel in WBC final eliminator
Chantelle Cameron will tackle Commonwealth champion Anisha Basheel in a WBC final eliminator on the #MTKFightNight at York Hall on June 28 – live on ESPN+.
‘Il Capo’ (9-0, 6 KOs) battered Feriche Mashauri to a halt at the London venue on April 26 and can now book a clash with the winner of Katie Taylor vs. Delfine Persoon by beating the dangerous Basheel, who is on a run of eight straight stoppage wins.
With her career rapidly gaining momentum since signing with MTK Global, Cameron is thrilled to be heading into such a crucial fight as chief support to Ohara Davies’ clash with former world champion Miguel Vazquez.
Cameron said: “This feels like it’s my first big fight and it’s a final eliminator. Winning this one will put me in perfect position to face the winner of Katie Taylor vs. Delfine.
“I know I’ve got to pull this off because if I don’t, I’m out of the picture. It’s making me hungry and it’s spurring me on. I’ve got to get rid of Basheel to get where I want to be, which is right at the top.
“I love boxing at York Hall – it’s an amazing venue. It’s only an hour and a half from Northampton so my local fans can come and watch me. It’s the home of British boxing and I love that arena.
“I’m also really looking forward to boxing on ESPN+ because it’s huge exposure. It’ll be exciting for the TV fans because there’ll be lots of heavy shots thrown. It’s great to be able to showcase myself on such a big channel.”
Former Team GB star Cameron has already blasted her way to the IBO world lightweight title and WBC Silver belt in her nine-fight professional career.
Stay tuned for more additions to a fantastic fight card at an iconic venue.

Undercard highlights
A quality line-up. 10-0 lightweight Chantelle Cameron gets a golden opportunity to become mandatory for the Katie Taylor vs Delfine Persoon undisputed clash on June 1, when she meets Anisha Basheel in a WBC final eliminator. Don’t be fooled by Basheel’s 8-5 record, the lady from Malawi lost her first five pro fights but has won the last eight inside schedule and, in June, destroyed the talented Sam Smith, in just 68 seconds for the vacant Commonwealth title.
Ryan Walsh defends his British featherweight crown against promising 12-0 Scottish ruler Lewis Paulin. Veteran switch-hitter Walsh already owns a Lonsdale Belt outright but must not take his eye of the ball against the Edinburgh southpaw.
Feel for the admittedly plucky Siar Ozgul, who has lost three of his last four and was given a going over by world-class Viktor Postol in November. He gets another top fighter here, former unbeaten European champ Anthony Yigit, whose only defeat was to Ivan Baranchyk in a world title fight when the Swede suffered a gruesome eye injury.

Contract expired - now just with MTK - Frank really only signed him to make himself look good guy after Matchroom let him go but mainly it was to make the Catterall fight then binned.
Vazquez v Taylor looked an old man.

Ohara Davies has told the ESPN+ audience they can expect some top-class entertainment when he faces Miguel Vazquez over a scheduled 10 rounds at York Hall on July 28.
Hackney super-lightweight ‘Two Tanks’ (18-2, 14 KOs) faces off with former world champion Vazquez (41-7, 15 KOs) on an #MTKFightNight that will also be broadcast live on iFLTV and watched around the world.
As he prepares to launch an assault on world-level, Davies welcomes the opportunity to show off his famous power on a significant stage.
Davies said: “The American audience can expect excitement, entertainment and a knockout. They can expect skill and class – all iced with a touch of arrogance.
“There’ll only be a touch of arrogance for this fight. I’m trying to calm it down now. I’m going to turn the skill and the focus up and the arrogance down.
“I’ve been a pro for just over five years and these basic, simple lessons I’m just learning now. I’ve been stubborn throughout my boxing career.
“Because my character is quite a stubborn one, I’ve learned these basic lessons I’m talking about late but it’s better late than never…”

After watching Ohara Davies against Catterall , I will probably record it and play it back at 3 times the speed to make it look a normal fight.

Ohara Davies is "as excited as it gets" as he prepares to collide with former world champion Miguel Vazquez on the #MTKFightNight at York Hall on June 28 - live on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank and on iFL TV.
Ahead of a fight scheduled for 10 rounds, Davies said: "Vazquez was world champion for four years but he was never on my radar. I don’t have people on my radar – just titles and success. I believe I can get to the top.
"Last time, up in Leicester, I didn’t feel at home. Being at home is only going to spur me on.
"I’m not thinking about any other big names. I’ve learned to take this boxing game one fight at a time because you never know what can happen. Looking past him would be a massive mistake.
"I know everyone had an issue with people not throwing my right hand last time. I’m not going to give away any tactics but one thing I will say that I’ll be the smartest fighter I can be. I’ll throw wherever is open.
"I’ve been coming to the MTK Global shows for a number of years and every single year, the quality of these shows has got better and better and better.
"A few years ago, if you’d have told me I’d be fighting on an MTK Global show I wouldn’t have reacted much. Now I’m like: ‘Hell yeah! Hell yeah! Hell f***ing yeah!’
"The quality of these shows is amazing. I was at the Sam Antwi vs. Siar Ozgul fight and the promotion, the production, the lights, the camera and action was amazing.
"Now I’m headlining the show, we’re looking for even more lights, cameras and action. Bring on more noise. I’m as excited as it gets."

Seems to be a lot of boxers aligned with MTK. I don't quite know what their gig is as a "management" company. How are they any different to a promoter? I know they have fighters with them who are with the other big promoters, so what exactly do they do for them?
If MTK can put on their own shows and streams via YouTube, seems like a way to cut out the promotors.

It's like PBC..
Haymon is a manager/advisor, but not a promoter. Guys like Lou DiBella and Tom Brown usually promote PBC shows.
MTK managed or advised boxers are mostly without promoters too, apart from the big guys like Fury etc.

It’s some set up they must 500+ fighters now - everyday they seem to sign more guys up.
The UK shows are almost 2-3 month now between Essex/Glasgow/Liverpool etc.
