Middleweights: Dick Tiger vs Jean Claude Bouttier

Post by scorpio83 »

At their best at middleweight, would Dick Tiger batter the Frenchman with good heavy counters for either a decision win in 15 rounds or a late round stoppage between rounds 10 to 15.? IMO yes, but what do you guys think?

Maybe Tiger would TKO Bouttier on a cut, but we have the same scenarios about the possible outcome of the fight.

Im not sure I get your meaning. Are you saying that you think Tiger could only win via cuts and that the same is just as likely for Bouttier? Tiger was stopped twice in his nearly twenty year career. Once at the beginning of his career with a broken thumb and the other against all time great light heavyweight Bob Foster who was a devastating puncher and had every advantage over Tiger. How much Bouttier have you seen? Comparing him to Tiger is laughable. I have more than half of Bouttier's fights on film and he was nothing special. His best wins were outright robberies. You can say Bouttier was only stopped twice but there are a few reasons for this: 1. He simply wasnt fighting the same class of competition that Tiger was consistently. 2. He was being protected by hometown judges (he fought outside of France five times and every one of his opponents was a gimme (one managed to beat him anyway). When he fought Kitten Hayward he got dropped. It was as clean a knockdown as you could land and the referee didnt even acknowledge it. Hayward outboxed Bouttier only to lose the decision. Emile Griffith broke Bouttier in half with body shots and as soon as Bouttier started to tire he put on an acting exhibition and got Griffith DQd. Finally, he fought very very few world class middleweight punchers. Go look at his record and youll see you its almost devoid of real punchers. That wasnt an accident. Simply two different classes of fighters. If the fight takes place in France I could see Bouttier running the entire fight and surviving to the final bell to get a robbery decision but thats the only way hes beating Dick Tiger. Any version of Dick Tiger.
