Hurd is a 168lber as I said before shrinking down to 154lbs. The draining that you abuse your body eventually will catch you badly. After Hurd beat Lara, he should've moved up. Anyway props to JW and Snac. :OhYes:

Mungia is next if he keeps dehydrating himself to make 154lb - punch resistance diminishes with each weight cut!

More than just water gets boiled out of a man when he cuts too much weight too many times. Soldiers use to be given a week to recover from dehydration before they fought again; these boxer-fighters try to do it in a day.

Good call. Those guys are too big for 154. The problem is that you never gonna recover from that especially when you lost. Your mind and your body get too weakened even if you move up after that. You have to do it at the right time.

thing is though, if these 'i eat punches' cavemen types like hurd and munguia werent cutting big, would they be able to have as much success with there crude open styles ? a lot of there wins are from basically just being able to eat shots and eventually wear down smaller guys

Hurd is the bigger guy by any means. JW is shorter and slimmer.

Yup. For a while your body recovers well after those abusing weight cuts but by the time they ruin your body. From 185-190 lbs to 154 is a hell of weight cutting! It takes a lot from your body.

Must be a tricky business, look what's happening to Lemieux, or Canelo and his knee. The body can only take so much.

Still, I don't think drastic weight cutting and rehydration will go away. They'll just weigh up the pros and cons and try to do it better.

We've come a long way from the days when Muhammad Ali was allegedly prescribed dehydration pills to at least look the part against Holmes. Simply disastrous.

Above all the human body needs air, and it needs water.

exactly mate - you just never recover after putting your body through that even at 160lb these lads (Hurd + Mungia) need to gradually step up jumping straight into with the top dogs' at MW will be a bad call!

Munguia still has his '0' and the chance to get a fat paycheck vs Canelo or GGG. As for Hurd imo he screwed his career. He lost a lot, not only those belts.

Ali was prescribed thyroid pills by a quack physician.

There has never been any suggestion (until now) that it was for cosmetic reasons.

Ali himself said he liked what the pills were doing and abused them. I remember something to that being mentioned in that special on the fight.

Ali said he felt sluggish preparing for Holmes. A presumed doctor, who was a camp hanger-one, somehow diagnosed Ali with a thyroid condition and prescribed medication.

Ali did say that he "overindulged" because he felt better after taking the pills.

But there's never been any suggestion that the medication was given for losing weight and designed to create an illusion that Ali was physically ready weightwise.

No not to create an illusion, but Ali was well aware of the med's effect on his body slimming down.

Williams is a good fighter. No shame in getting demolished by a Charlo brother. Right Apollo?

They’re really just MW’s making the 154 limit. Hurd is quite tall.

Hurd did say he had no struggle making weight for this fight compared to previous fight.

One loss doesn’t end ur career. He can win them back. He has many options. He is with PBC.

But this is what happens when you stall fighting each other (Hurd vs. Jermall)

You BOTH end up losing your ‘0’.

Fantastic point! Maybe the HW's can learn something here as well.

You know I always think, AJ/FURY/Wilder will probably fight each when they all have lost to ‘someone else’

Obviously Fury-Wilder already fought, but kept their ‘0’. They know there ain’t gonna be 2 draws, someone will lost the rematch.

Negotiations maybe easier as well when one or more of them have lost. They’ll have been humbled.

It's like no one heard a word Williams said in his post fight speech.

Yeh. Williams got KTFO by Jermall and has just come back a few fights later and won 3 belts against Hurd.

Harrison lost to Hurd, had a few comeback fights and dethroned Jermell, even know many had Jermell wining convincingly.
