Whyte v Fury - Let's pretend...

Post by joshj909 »

If we pretend that this fight will actually happen and isn't promo for Fury. Who wins and how?

Fury points... but would like to hear the argument for Whyte winning?

Crikey, I had to fight the tumbleweeds to post this.
There isn't an argument for Whyte winning, he is like a younger (richer) Kevin Johnson

Well I’ve been impressed by Whyte. He really can take it - soak it up. He has a punchers chance, this is hw boxing and he has a dirty left hook.

Whyte by Ko round 1.

Like 9-3 8 or 8-4 to Fury. Whyte rarely hits him but does enough to win a few rounds when Fury is not doing much

Depends where Fury is right now. If he's upped his fitness since the Wilder fight, and nothing suggests he hasn't, then how's Whyte going to connect?

Despite Fury's promises of action and spectacular demolitions we all know he'll run for 12 rounds throwing 5/6 punches in each one.

Anything else and Whyte will clobber him.

I would like the two people voted Whyte KO to reveal themselves :OhYes: (I know HW's always carry a punchers chance but this would be so one sided for Fury)

I voted for the KO. I think Whyte would wear him down with body shots, refuse to let Fury make the most of his size as he would have the strength advantage, and end up catching him with a big shot. Not 100% guarenteeing that but I think it's more likely than him avoiding being hit for the entire fight. If Wilder can have success then there's no reason Whyte can't.

I am the other person who voted for a Whyte KO for pretty much the same reason as stated by Joshj909 - Fury would outbox and outmanoeuvre Whyte early doors but I could see Whyte grinding him down (and Dillian is certainly not beyond resorting to a little rule bending now and then too) and landing either a sweet shot or a bloody messy one to get a KO.

fair play - my only question would be is why do you rate Whyte as highly as Wilder?

first thought is that Fury would be too long and elusive for Whyte and probably win an easy decision.

Fury by one sided decision.

Whyte has a lot of fanboys for some reason, but he's just a guy who's strong and can punch a bit.

He barely escaped with his life against Parker. Whyte was somehow outboxed and outsped by Chisora for lengthy stretches.

His mouth has convinced many that he's an elite and deserving of a title shot.

Please give him one (assuming that he accepts the purse, naturally) so Whyte can finally be quieted.

Fury boxes his ears off.

They have very different styles, in short Whyte uses his strength in every shot and bullies opponents physically in the ring where's Wilder uses his length and hail Mary punches, so they are not directly comparable in that way but styles make fights and I think this is a more favourable matchup for Whyte against Fury than it was for Wilder because of this.

Other than his belt, why do you rate Wilder any better than Whyte?

purely because of his length and that frikkin' right hand + what he lacks in technique he makes up with his right hand.

I like Whyte hope he does get a crack at Wilder end of 2019!
