Lucas Browne vs Tom Little

Post by oogiebe »

Just heard that Browne is fighting Tom Little at York Hall on June 27th.
I was hoping Browne would retire, but I guess not.

Why was you hoping he will retire?

He must be lined up as an opponent for a title of some kind and this is to get him the win to qualify to box for it.

Wonder what Browne's plan is? If you are losing to Dave Allen you are going nowhere of note and should probably throw your hand in and look at doing something else with your life. I suppose if he likes boxing for boxing's sake that's good enough. Probably answered my own question.

A long way to come for what must be small wages though, you’d think he would box in Australia for that.

Unless he has a specific future opponent in mind. The loser of Dubois/Gorman for example, or possibly Price, if he loses to Allen.

It might be a conscious decision to base himself in the UK for the time being.

Lucas Browne - Tom Little

Post by Gnome »

Apparently Lucas Browne - Tom Little has been made for the summer on an undercard at York Hall. Big Daddy announced it today on Facebook.

Two years ago this would be a given but what are everyone's thoughts about this fight in 2019?

Not a good combination.

It’s a waste of everyone’s time. Little is a decent gatekeeper at a very low level - a decent opponent for guys moving from Area to National title level say. Browne was always flawed in a number of ways but now looks shot to bits and should retire. If Dave Allen is blowing you away the games up

Retiring after a body shot seems extreme to me - think this is a good fight and firmly believe Browne will make this competitive!

Browne will most probably win, but it’s a cul-de-sac of a fight...

I agree. I think he's vulnerable at this stage.

Tbf Tom Little is highly unlikely to do him much damage. Not exactly Jumbo Cummings MkII. Decent hand speed but basically just a rent a gob talking shite to make a living. Can't blame him.

Because he won a bit of money, some fans and glory..., but now it's over.
He's just gonna get hurt, maybe damaged permanently failing to get back to the level he failed at before.

Seems a really likeable guy - I want him to retire too.

It's up to him not me. If they enjoy boxing for the sake of it then crack on. If someone will pay them to do it that's up to the punter.
