Do you think that GGG will look sluggish and old in his next fights ?

Now that GGG made changes in his career people are curious to see how he will perform next especially at his age of 37 y/o.

I'd like to see GGG fighting Andrade to see how he looks .

He hasn't shown signs of decline yet. It just happened, that the better competition apopeared at the end of his reign. I don't expect him to appear declining. He actually can grab some belts again.

Not as long as he's fighting the Steve Rolls of the world.

He and his new trainer want to box more. I bet Golovkin has injuries, wear and tear which made him change the course.

The GGG between 2010 - 2014 was no doubt a phenomena but I still doubt whether anyone will regard him as a pushover in his next few fights.

What about Rocky Fielding or Beefy Liam Smith ? Would've been better options?

Pirog, Martinez and JCCJr should've been on GGG resume. :box:

He is indeed a very good boxer. He should box more.

He can't improve. He can only decline. However, I expect his prowess to only gradually dimish, rather than becoming a seemingly shot fighter overnight, regardless of having recently parted ways with Abel Sanchez.

GGG will demolish the guy he's facing in his next mismatch, which means that mainstream casuals will be fooled into believing he's some sort of pugilistic equivalent of the ageless Peter Pan. So we won't be able to gauge the true extent of Golovkin's decline against the hideously obscenely overmatched Steve Rolls.

We may only be able to detect whether age has caught up with him until he engages in rematches against the likes of Jacobs and Canelo.

No, but it will be a sad day when he does. Especially if he never gets the signature win he should already have over Canelo.

The first Canelo fight is GGG's signature win for sure. :box:

Funny. None of the record books I've looked at paint it that way.

It’s interesting to see you say that because Stephen "Breadman" Edwards said something similar about Jonathan Banks earlier on today:

Why is Jonathan Banks a bad choice? Banks has experience at the top level. He had a great mentor in Emanuel Steward. He knows boxing. Wladimir Klitshcko picked him for a reason and so did GGG. I was just telling a colleague of mine that GGG would pick a black coach.

The reason why is because at his age, he has to be able to do more while exerting less energy. He won’t be able to throw 70 power punches a round. He won’t be able to spar killers every other day. When I heard he picked Banks I actually said to myself good choice. Banks is a sharp dude and a good coach. Let’s see how it plays out before we say it won’t work. I like Banks’s pad work and he will emphasize a rhythm breaking jab, and a better right hand. Most of Emanuel Steward’s coaches work under the same philosophies. GGG has only been able to land his hard jab vs Canelo and Jacobs which is where his performance slide started.

Perhaps GGG is looking to adapt his style to cater for his age in order to extend his career, as we saw with the likes of Mayweather Jr. & Hopkins, by becoming more of a boxer.

When I saw a few of Golovkin’s bouts prior to working with Abel Sanchez, he employed the jab more, used lateral movement and was more defensively responsible. However, his punches didn’t quite seem as potent, which is understandable considering his ring movement at the time.

I also found it rather interesting to hear Breadman’s feedback on Banks’s pad work and emphasis on using a rhythm breaking jab, because Joe Joyce coincidentally claimed that one of the main reasons for him leaving Abel Sanchez very recently was due to a distinct lack of pad work at the gym at Big Bear.

So it looks as though Gennadiy might be trying reinvent himself in order to prolong his career. However, the Steve Rolls fight is far too early to see any real fundamental change to Golovkin’s stylistic approach. It’s going to be a slow and organic change.

It's incredible the hypocrisy of the people

Who cares how he will look...

His fight is garbage against a F class fighter with no chance to win

He need to fight Charlo or Andrade.

This guy has a very soft career with only two good rivals and never took a risk in 168

Smith was a O.K fight, and much better than Stevie Rolls at a catchweight, and Fielding is better than this guy Rolls.

Only in your dreams, and nothing more.

The draw was fair.

Period...

Everybody knows that GGG clearly won the first Canelo fight, even people who pretend that they think it was a draw.

..unless he gets older overnight no reason to assume that...he still has to lose on a neutral venue..

He'll Rolls right over the next guy. I think his style will age better than some, it may be another year or two before we really notice serious decline.
