Who would win this match and how ?

Fury takes a lot of shots. The 88 Tyson would down him three times in the first round.

Probably a dull fight.
Mike Tyson has all sorts of trouble landing anything of consequence of Fury.
And Fury, as we have seen before, will fight with extreme caution, throwing and landing few punches.
He may come on a bit in the late rounds, but Fury will be too far behind to make much of a dent on the scorecards.
Mike Tyson's aggressiveness, despite being largely ineffective, will earn him a unanimous decision.

Small Tyson would get stopped by Gipsy King.SenorPipino wrote: ↑18 May 2019, 12:01 Probably a dull fight.

With what?
All that enormous power Fury carries in the 80 feather punches a fight he lands?
I'm no Tyson fan. Not by a long shot. But his chin stood up to far better and more aggressive punchers than Tyson Fury.

Tyson always had trouble with tall guys so I think it takes him a while to get to Fury, but eventually he does. I'm thinking he knocks him out in the 7th or 8th round, but Fury gives him trouble up to that point.
I mean it took Tyson 5 rounds to get out tall guys that totally sucked ass. I think it was just a height issue for him where it was hard to land his money punch on their chin, but he'd keep going at it, and since it's '88 Tyson we're talking about eventually he's gonna get it.
If anything I'm giving Fury too much credit in thinking he'd last that long, but Mike definitely gets him at some point though.

I agree that if both are old Fury wins. He has more heart for the game than Mike it would seem, and more tools to rely on that you could still conceivably use as an older man, whereas it didn't seem to take much to convince old Mike to pack it in, and stay on his stool.characters wrote: ↑18 May 2019, 15:32 If both are young Mike wins, if both are old Fury wins, both at their prime I think Fury wins as well, but if he get's rocked he got a problem. Mike Tyson was a very very very fast boxer when he was young.
Granted we haven't seen "Old" Fury in action yet so we don't really know what that would look like, but you kinda get a feeling.

Fury had all potential to outbox Mike. Iron Mike was frustrated by outfighters and The Gypsy King is very good at it. I also don't think, that Mike would KO Fury. The Gypsy King took Wilder's clean bombs, that was extraordinary. I believe, Wilder's power is among ther best all time.

Wilder's power is tremendous. His accuracy and skill on the other hand is not. Tyson would land a lot more than Wilder did.DrDuke wrote: ↑18 May 2019, 16:37 Fury had all potential to outbox Mike. I was not a fan of his when he was at his peak.
I was a huge Holmes fan I guess I just refused to appreciate him while he was around

Used to be Tyson fans were the worst. Refused to believe that anyone who ever lived could beat him.tiny_acres wrote: ↑18 May 2019, 21:47![]()

Now, especially with younger fans, people think he beat nothing but fat crack addled cab drivers.
Both extremes are pretty short sighted

Atlas always said that anyone with boxing IQ and grit would beat Mike Tyson - purely because of that Fury points (WIDE)

Re: 1988 Iron Mike Tyson vs 2015 Gipsy King Tyson Fury! The 'Tysons' fantasy match!
A lot of Mike Tyson’s opponents were already beaten by fear before they stepped foot inside the ring. I don’t feel that Fury would be intimidated.
‘Iron’ Mike never overcame adversity and when the American was at his prime (during the first 37 bouts of his career), the average weight of his opponents were 212lbs, which is the physical equivalent of rehydrated modern-day cruiserweights.
Size matters and we know for certain that Fury is capable of overcoming adversity to score the upset.
Did Mike Tyson ever defeat a brave world-class opponent that weighed roughly 260lbs, was 6’ 9” tall, as skilful, as cocky, as mentally tough or as fast as Tyson Fury?
Mike Tyson may have been capable of defeating Tyson Fury and I expect nostalgia to compel many to believe the prime version of the American was some sort of indestructible fearsome behemoth, but I really can’t help thinking that the Brit may have won this fight.
I honestly believe that Mike would have become frustrated by the elusive showboating Fury. The American might be so outraged about his lack of effectiveness against the Brit that he may have looked for the exit door, by resorting to seeking a DQ loss, rather than being comprehensively out-boxed.
After all, Mike Tyson once famously said, “How dare these boxers challenge me with their primitive skills? It makes me angry. They're just as good as dead…”, but imagine how infuriated he’d feel against someone as skilful as Tyson Fury?

I actually like Teddy, but you must take anything he says about Iron Mike with not just one but several grains of salt.kbackup408 wrote: ↑20 May 2019, 06:47 Atlas always said that anyone with boxing IQ and grit would beat Mike Tyson - purely because of that Fury points (WIDE)
