Robeisy Ramirez is coming !

Post by ValMar »

Two-time Olympic champion, Cuban Robeisy Ramirez will become a pro-boxer very soon. Honestly, I have never watched him, but I know he defeated Shakur Stevenson. Do you think he is capable to become the genuine champion. Which weight division is his natural one ? Can he upset Lomachenko ?

He's very good. 122-126, he's too small for lomachenko. Probably for Stevenson too.

Too bad you did not watch him. I watched him at all world championships since 2011 and in wsb too. Many of elite cuban amateur boxers fight with hands down these days. Ramirez must focus on defense since day 1. Speaking of his size, he is definitely small for Loma, Berchelt and Davis. In addition, he is not muscular, i bet he can cut down even to 118lbs. Golden Bob should put him to Lomachenko undercards and be very carefully to pick a division for him. 126 is pretty competetive i like idea of Ramirez fighting in this weight, but if he can be world champ soon, he should begin at 122 :box: :box: :box:

Top Rank said Ramirez would compete at featherweight in the pro ranks when he signed last week. Since he was 19 in 1993 Robeisy has fought at 56 kg, which is 123.2 pounds, so while he might be able to make 122, getting down to 118 would probably weaken him. At the signing last week reporters said Ramirez looked pudgy so it will take some work just to get down to 126.

Since Robeisy is only 5'5" his ceiling weight-wise could end up being as low as 135 but winning world titles at 3 different weights would probably be the most ever world belts for a Cuban defector. I know Joel Casamayor won world belts at 130 & 135 but I dont think any defectors had more than those 2 (correct me if I'm wrong). So world titles in 3 different divisions would give Ramirez a solid claim to being the best defecting Cuban boxer so far and at age 25 he's got time to do it
