Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz II - November 23, 2019

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Wilder confirmed the rumors himself through his verified social media account Tuesday evening.

Image

“Wilder v Ortiz II FIRE!” declared the reigning WBC titlist, just two weeks removed from a highlight reel 1st round knockout of Dominic Breazeale. “To all my fans, I want to announce that Luis Ortiz and I have signed for a rematch, with the date and site to be announced shortly. All my controversial fights must get dealt with ASAP!”

A date and location both remain forthcoming, but it is believed that the fight will take place in September. Two suggested dates and venues are September 7 at Staples Center in Los Angeles (as per L.A. Times’ Lance Pugmire) and September 28 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, as there is presently a hold on the latter.

I'll watch it but I can't claim to be particularly interested, this time around. Wilder has already knocked him out and Ortiz hasn't improved in the interval.

Can anyone explain to me what Ortiz has done to warrant another shot at the WBC title since his last one?

god heavyweights today suck... i could care less.

i can go on youtube and watch loads of better heavyweight matchups from the past between great champions and contenders that actually had talent rather than these oversized clowns of today

Because he's seen as good but won't be a threat. Somehow wasnt up on the cards and doesn't appear to have it in him to keep the pace and go 12 rounds to overcome those scorecards or finish Wilder, also he will most likely be worse than last time. Perfect cherry picked opponent.

What an incredible waste of life to log into a boxing forum and post in character as a cretinous ‘Wilder fan’ with zero boxing knowledge. At least be a bit more creative if you’re going to troll.

both AJ and Wilder say they want this fight, but everyone seems to be comfortable making it in 2020. I just don't get it.

Talk is worthless in this case. We fans have this to (not) look forward to, not to mention Fury/Schwarz. At least Ortiz is better than Schwarz. Ugh!

Agreed.

Not in a good state is it the HW division, which is silly cos there's 3fighters who each generate a lot of talk but for the most part are like ships passing in the night

Id still back Tyson as the best of the 3 though :TU:

Any opponent that's not AJ or Fury is a disappointment, but at least he's taking on a top 10, maybe even top 5, opponent. He could make easy money fighting the Schwarzes of the world until the Joshua payday comes through. Instead, he's fighting a live dog even though I'm sure he'll win by KO again.

Why is he scheduling fights with Ortiz (and saying he's got his next one planned as well) and then claiming AJ is ducking him? How can you fight a guy who has his next 2 fights/1 year booked up?

I predict a Wilder KO and much earlier than last time. But Ortiz did well enough to justify a rematch. I actually had Ortiz up by 2 rounds and Wilder was almost stopped.

Nothing about the fight is cheap. They're desperate to have Americans give a shit.
