Dmitry Kudryashov vs Ilunga Makabu

Post by handsofstone »

Fun Cruiserweight action live on B/Nation this sunday afternoon as big punchers Kudryashov and Makabu meet in a battle of the bangers, looking forward to this a lot more than the WBSS semis the night before, both guys got KO'd in their only 2 losses but have a combined win record of 46 KOs in 47 wins so i'd say its a cert that this finishes early, more than likely very early, i'd say Kudryashov is still P4P harderst puncher in boxing along with Beterbiev and Wilder but just doesn't hold a shot well at all, iced by Durodola which he avenged TBF but Dorticos short circuited him in last years WBSS QFs, haven't seen him since but he has picked up a couple of low key wins

Havent seen Makabu since the Bellew fight, he's had about 5 wins over standard opposition so its his first test since getting KTFO from Bomber, I fancy him to beat Kudryashov, he carries power himself and i'd say he's not as vulnerable around the whiskers as Kud although if Makabu gets chinned then its goodnight

I'll say Makabu within 3 but whatever the result I'm just looking forward to seeing it

I'm leaning slightly towards Makabu early in this one but both real punchers with their own vulnerabilities which makes it very tricky to call. Should be entertaining while it lasts!

Kudryashov can't box at all. He's a murderous slugger, but that's just everything he does - he walks and slugs. I won't favour him against any top opponent.

probably makabu wins, hes got more too him outside power then kud does, and they both have way more then enough power to ktfo each other if they land. but really all it takes from either guy is getting home a good one, so its a very live fight

should be fun and short stuff

Gotta love big bad Dimitry - It’s always XXX rated when he fights - he either crushes em or gets absolutely cold cocked - never a dull moment

Makabu stopped Kudryashov in the 5th after a brutal slugfest. Both had moments, Makabu had more though. Kudryashov was down in the 2nd, stopped on his feet in the 5th.

My god, what a brutal fight, that 2nd round rivals Josh/Ruiz round 3 with a near double knockdown. Immense bravery from Kudryashov, face battered and bloodied as he gave it everything in what might be his last shot at big time, but Makabu would not be denied.

Thank God a merciful stoppage by the referee, as we were getting worried about the big Russian in that round.

Kudryashov is a gutsy fighter, but, just as excpected, he didn't box. He can only slug. Makabu was even more durable, he stood his ground after the best bombs of Kudryashov. Makabu brutally battered Kudryashov through the fight. The stoppage was good indeed.

I know noticed the bell for the 2nd was about 7 seconds early just as the Russian absorbed a huge right.

He's a big power puncher with no defence skills. He just stands and trades.

Haha you've gotta love the Cruiserweights especially in Russia on a sunday afternoon with Kudryashov, very nearly had a double knockdown in the 2nd, Kudryashov down from a left hand but his own left had Makabu wobbling probably hurt more than Kudyashov was, Makabu was good though, he was pretty much always the better man, Kudryashov boxed quite well and landed some mice counters but Makabu was the one drilling him with the cleaner shots, Makabu hits hard himself, his jab looks hurtful and the straight right as well, just busted Kudryashov up, i'll be honest I was too engrossed to think about the ref stepping in, it was probably the right call, Kudryashov did have a punchers chance and we knew he could hurt Makabu but really he was getting beat up

That was insane! Makabu looked out on his feet several times but Kudryashov almost has a negative defence—he gets the earmuffs on & it seems to somehow quadruple the effect of the punches (happened vs Dorticos too).

Credit to both guys, that was a war. Makabu didn't just marmalise his face, he beat the shite out of his body, too.

X-rated stuff, that.

Agreed mate , Kudryashov is well rightly known as too gung ho or open defensively with a soft chin but whenever I watch him, as soon as the opening bell rings I just want him to get to work, fvck all this conservative, tighten up the defense lark, effing hit him mate I guarantee he'll go down

I think he needs to be more wreckless

I was glad the ref stopped it because it was noticeable the round before when he took the battered big man over to see the ringside Doc, who looked at the ref like what the f*ck are you bringing him over here for ? flashed a green card for some bizarre reason and said send him back out there :D

Did this fight make anyone re-assess Bellews performance against Mak? I mean obviously Kud can't box for sh1t but he can punch And Mak took his shots ok, I was quite impressed with hindsight that Bellew cleaned Mak up quite emphatically.

Absolute tear up & was never going to be any other way, only surprise was that it got to the 5th round especially after that final minute or so of the 2nd! Nice win for Makabu, picked his shots well to the body & head :TU:

Yes but I've been doing that with Bellew since his amateur days. Always underrated him for some reason.

Really good fight.
Makabu fought well. Deserves another crack at a title.
Kud is always in exciting fights But he’s as wide open as Jordan’s fanny flaps.
Tyrone could park a jumbo jet through his guard.

Fun fight, if a little one sided in the end. That near double knockdown was brilliant!
