Shakur Stevenson Assault Charges Dropped

Post by oogiebe »

BS.COM: Olympic silver medal winner and rising superstar Shakur Stevenson appeared in court and managed to settle his legal issues.

Back in April, a video surfaced which showed Stevenson involved in a violent brawl at a Miami Beach parking garage.

Stevenson was arrested on July 1 of last year and charged with misdemeanor battery. He was facing three counts of misdemeanor battery and one count of felony battery.

One year probation and has to perform community service. I'm surprised and not surprised.

I'm not surprised in the least.

I opined in the past that It would likely be plead down to virtually nothing.

Both sides were mouthing off. Apparently the "victims" began it, however.

The video was incomplete. It didn't show the beginning of the fracas.

These are pretty much mutual combat cases. Two sides going at it without a clue as to who's really at fault.

Cases like this are often routinely dismissed as they should be.

it says right there in the article that the police said stevenson and grayton started it, though pip prob knows more then the police there , just like he knows the exact details of rematch clauses if they actually exist

steve also paid there medical bills (well, what r the chances he himself paid that), and charges are only actually dropped if he fullfills those conditions, seems like they just agreed on this, couldve been some tr 'influence' to some parties as well

The charges weren't dismissed. He plead guilty to a lesser charge of battery, as the article says. But yeah, you had said that it wouldn't amount to much.

You can lead a camel to water...etc.

I'm just hoping that the kid learns his lesson from this.

I agree. I like the guy as a fighter & think he has got a great future in the sport if he can stay out of trouble. It took Mayweather 2 months in jail to slow his roll on the thuggish side. Hopefully Stevenson can leave the thug life behind without having to spend time in the slammer like Floyd did.
