Danny Williams to fight Kazakh puncher

Post by Boxing Prospect »

:( Danny Williams will take on Kazakh puncher Ruslan Myrsatayev (5-0, 5) in July in Almaty apparently

Why? Why can't he hang them up, walk away and keep what grey matter he has?

I imagine he'll be getting well paid for this one at least, as opposed to fighting in Hungary or Czech Republic.

The article says Danny beat the Klitschko brothers and Oleg Maskaev so not factually correct. Although I recall reading at the time that the scores against Maskaev were a joke...

I think it was supposed to be Lee Kellett, Lee was posting on here about it a few weeks ago...

They’re tryna hype the fight to the Asian’s.. it’s an Asian website after all.

It's not actually the article that says that, it's the embedded Instagram from the Kazakh promotional team that says that. The article is very anti-the fight.

The website comes across as critical of the fight and did nothing to hype it at all, the embedded instagram from the promoter is hyping the fight.

We were urging Danny to Let It Be 10 years ago!!!

He has spent a full decade not listening.

It was Sam for me. It would've always been a tough fight for him, but he was so flat that night, and it's when I stopped believing that he'd ever overcome his pre-fight nerves.

Later on he did seem to overcome them as a result of brain damage, at which point boxing must've felt so much easier mentally, leading him on to further damage. Boxers are mostly very hard people inured to the physicality of the sport, so once their fear of losing goes...

Stopped in four, one of the worst displays I've seen from him (and that's saying something)

You can see from his 'body language' during the introductions he's resigned to get beaten up.

One of my favourites was Danny. We’ve been saying it for years but I really pray he walks away soon.

Can't say I was impressed with the supposed 'puncher' he landed dozens of clean shots before Danny finally succumbed.

I'm guessing the only reason that Danny is still continuing is because he was paying for his kids to go to private schools.

Pretty sad but admirable that he's losing what's left of his brain cells to help further his kids lives. Hopefully he doesn't end up with CTE.

FFS how many years are his kids in school for? He seems to have been doing this for year.

He earned decent money for the Tyson and Klit fights, pretty sure he could have paid his daughters fees and set himself up for life with those purses?

Last I heard one daughter has completed her education and he said the purse from the McCallister farce last year would complete paying for the other, yet here he is two fights later getting battered again.

Perhaps he thought he still had a future after beating unbeaten Boban Filipovic last time out?

I thought he looked like a bloke who has 'crash dieted' his muscle and skin tone was poor and he had loose skin on his back.

His face is a mess as well (hardly surprising)

That was a pretty hard final knockdown too.

Williams is a fighter...it seems he's resigned himself to it and has accepted the consequences

The left hook that send him staggering before the knockdown was a sickener.

Did you notice he didn't have any handwraps when his gloves were removed?
