Povetkin is the best. Not a lot of particularly good in fighters at the weight at the moment.

Andy Ruiz obviously did pretty good with in-fighting skills against AJ.

Out of the top 15 heavyweights
Povetkin, Ruiz and Parker would be the top 3 in order

Povitkin in 1st place by a decent margin. Let's face it, he has to be with his T-Rex arms.
Ruiz and Parker 2nd equal.
3rd is a tough one, and I'm leaning towards Takem. The bloody division is so weak, it seems almost comical to struggle to name anyone I would even consider decent apart from Povitkin.

T-Rex arms? Povetkin has normal sized arms for a strong athletic man, about the same as me I would judge. He's not built like the dopers, and ironically they accuse him of their own crimes, but remember how the Big Baby was loudly accusing others of his own crimes? That's what they do.

I am disappointed that it was not my Vityaz man Povetkin who defeated Joshua instead of Ruiz. It looked like he was doing it in the early rounds. He must have softened him up for Ruiz!

Didn’t Alexander Povetkin test positive for banned substances twice in the space of a year (for the Stiverne and Wilder bouts) or did that happen in an alternate version of reality?

Can we consider Usyk yet or is he still a cruiser until he fights again? Povetkin is a standout, Ruiz has inside skills. After that I'm struggling.

I don't know what his drug history has got to do with his skillset, but the Meldonium charge has been shown to be bullshit, and most likely politically motivated. The Ostarine charge is not so easy to excuse. He's been a very good technician with or without help from his friendly neighbourhood pharmacist.

I agree with you. I was even thinking Povetkin really isn't a good answer when you're really thinking of great in-fighters from the past, but I couldn't really think of a better answer to the question. Who's the best infighter "Right now" than him. But yeah there's been oodles of guys with a better inside game over the history of this sport.

The ostarine charge is the same as the meldonium charge you describe. Setups. He only "failed" their two tests with microscopic amounts of the drugs that they probably planted there, especially before the Wilder fight as Wilder's handlers did not want him to fight Povetkin who they felt would beat him. He passed all other tests. He was later found innocent in their own court in New York City. Just look at Povetkin's body compared with the US-UK stars. It is a normal athletic body similar to that seen on boxers and other athletes, including bodybuilders, in the past, before the advent of steroids. But that won't stop them from going on about "pedvetkin" on these silly forums.

Povetkin is #1, Ruiz is #2.

From what we recently saw I'd vote for Ruiz as number one, even tho I don't think he will last as heavyweight champ. Father time is catching up with the Vityaz man as he must with us all.

I'm not sure Ruiz is a better inside fighter than Povetkin, but he might be. He certainly has more mileage left in him as a fighter.

Yeah. Let's be honest. Ruiz is real deal, but he used the chance given by Joshua. Joshua could be more rational and take over. Povetkin nailed the rational Joshua for good for a couple of times. Ruiz nailed the spurting Joshua.

Yeah bizarre call for a dude who does pretty much all his best work at mid-long range and uses his footwork to make sure he spends the whole fight there

Not specifically aimed at that post but some people seem to call anyone who's ever thrown a bodyshot an inside fighter.

Kownacki is the heavy that stands out to me. He lives on the inside. Povetkin has high level boxing skills and likes to trade at range when he fights an opponent that is his size.

Kownacki is more offence oriented. It looks like he doesn't care about the defence at all. That can be dangerios for himself. Povetkin is smarter and more text-book oriented, so to speak.

Due to his conditioning or lack thereof though his stamina isn't really up to snuff for the way he likes to fight. He noticeably slows after about 4 or 5 rounds, and is a lot less dangerous.
