Post by SAPFO »

Can’t find the thread. It’s close, and a good matchup.

So let’s get the latest Boxrec numbers...

The problem with Dubois is because he has done so well at a lower level, he hasn't been tested, so will he be another Pele Reid. We need to see how he copes on the deeper waters.
Can Gorman take him there?
Dubois early or Gorman late.
If Dubois wins early, we will still be asking the question!
I've got a feeling Gorman will win.

It’s a good fight isn’t it.
Gorman’s got more experience, faster hands and could easily get off the floor to stop DDD a bit like Aj vs Ruiz.
That said he could just stay down.

I’ll pick Dubois (just).
Say KO3 - it has a “Dubois early or Gorman late” feel.

Dubois will just blast him out. I don’t see it as being particularly close or difficult to call.

I'm in this camp as well, but I'm conscious I haven't seen enough of either fighter to say this with complete certainty.

Dubois. Not that I’ve got much opinion on how much better one is than the other, but for the sake of the division and of the physical state of mankind in general saggy flabby heavyweights with moobs have got to stop winning at some point.

The poll favours Gorman more than the original one.
Your right about the difference in firepower, but on the flip side, myself and the other voters for Gorman see a difference in boxing skills, mobility, punch variation and ring craft. If Gorman can keep his chin safe for the early rounds, I could see him taking control of the fight and eaking out a points decision. Of course DDD could get a KO, which is what makes me eagerly anticipate this fight- and the whole card actually.

I slightly favor Dubois, but I won't be surprised, if Gorman wins.

There was a 10,000 person survey done on the outcome of this fight.

Across the board it was Nathan who found most favour with the fans, averaging 65 percent of the votes.
In a straight vote of ‘Who do you think will win the fight?’ it was the Ricky Hatton trained heavyweight who again came on top with 57% of the votes.
So, sticking to the theme of the popular promotional trailer, the fans seem to agree that Nathan Gorman is the man to beat Daniel Dubois!
However, it is said that the bookies rarely get it wrong and the pricing of the betting giant 32Red is firmly in the corner of Dubois.

So not far off the results of our poll, just with a lot more voters

Gorman likes to mix it up and won't be able to keep Dubois off him. Dubois too strong.

Doobie hasn't faced a mover like Gorman. His past opponents have not been able to get away from his (basic) come forward approach. If Gorman uses his legs, I don't think Doobie can launch his big bombs on the move, he needs to plant himself first.

DDD cuts off the ring better than folks give him credit for. Gorman is fun to watch, but Dubois will flatten him. Can't wait to watch!

I am too.
Dubois is raw, a bit stiff, hittable and may not have the engine for 12 rounds at pace.
But he’s still the obvious favourite with the firepower.

Slightly OT, does anybody know how this is selling? I bought some tickets but have been emailed about resales and buying more, which is unusual. For selfish reasons I wouldn't mind if it didn't sell out, as it would be nice to get my seat upgraded (as happened at one of David Haye's shitter fights, Monty Barrett I think) so that the place looks busier on TV.
