Thulani Mbenge vs Sebastian Formella

B/Nation are showing this card from Germany this Saturday as unbeaten Welterweights Mbenge and Formella square off, Mbenge having his first fight outside South Africa against the home favourite Formella, Ive seen Mbenge a couple of times he's decent, watched his stop Miguel Vazquez on the undercard of the Mchunu/Oosthuizen rematch, he also has a stoppage win over Diego Chaves

Formella is 20-0 and the only guy I recognise on his record is Betuel Ushona who he outpointed in his last fight, I remember Vassell beating Ushona in a Commonwealth title fight about 10 years ago

I quite like Mbenge, he's pretty sharp and can punch

Cracking fight well worth a watch, Formella wins a UD I agreed with the 115-112 card, he just wanted it more than Mbenge who tried to load up whilst Formella was working in spurts throwing punches in bunches, outworking Mbenge and being a nuisance, I thought he started off sharper than Mbenge, got to work quicker, you could tell early that Mbenge was trying to set him up for the right hand but even though he was a lot taller and gangly he was being outworked, he was getting closer though each round with it though and by the mid rounds Formella was looking ragged and feeling the effects of the rights and bodyshots

Mbenge got warned for low blows about 7 times but only got 1 point off, it didn't matter in the end but he should've had more, the ref was soft, after looking on the way out Formella somehow regrouped and clawed things back in his favour, Mbenge was still landing the occasional long right hand but he looked out of ideas and lost his shape, Formella fought on pure heart for the last couple rounds but it was enough to secure the win
