The return to the ring of lightweight contender Felix "El Diamante" Verdejo will not be on August 3 in Puerto Rico as it was originally proposed, according to Carlos Gonzalez.
Víctor "Luvi" Calleja, president of the Professional Boxing Commission of Puerto Rico, confirmed that the aforementioned date had been set aside for a card that Diamante Promotions intended to present on the island.
However, Calleja was notified that the plans were canceled and he's now waiting for a new date.
Gonzalez states that Diamante Promotions has also reserved the date of August 24.
Verdejo (25-1, 16 KO) is currently sitting back and waiting to get information regarding the next step of his career.
The 26-year-old has won two consecutive fights since losing his undefeated record in March 2018 when he was stopped Antonio Lozada.
This past April, Verdejo received a stiffer test when he beat Bryan Vasquez by unanimous decision as part of the undercard to Terence Crawford vs. Amir Khan, which was held at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has placed Verdejo as the thirteenth-ranked player at 135 pounds.
