Claressa Shields: In Boxing, I Would Put Amanda Nunes To Sleep!
Undisputed middleweight champion Claressa Shields (9-0) is very confident that she can defeat two-division UFC champion, Amanda Nunes, if they fight in a boxing ring.
Earlier this year, Shields dominated Christina Hammer to unify the WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF world titles.
Nunes has been on a violent tear as of late in the UFC - knocking out Ronda Rousey, Meisha Tate, Shields' close friend Cris Cyborg, and last Saturday she needed one round to put away Holly Holm, who several years ago was regarded as one of the best female fighters in the world.
Nunes is now being regarded by most as the best female MMA fighter of all-time.
While Shields admits that she wouldn't do very well in the UFC's octagon, she is very confident in her chances to knock Nunes out if they squared up in a boxing ring.
"They are calling her the greatest MMA fighter of all-time, not the greatest fighter. I'm the GWOAT, the greatest woman fighter of all-time. She ain't been to the Olympics two times. I've been to the top of the world two times. And I'm not putting myself against Amanda because we're both woman athletes. Actually I praise her like I praise Cris (Cyborg)," Shields told TMZ Sports.
"She's the greatest women's fighter in MMA and I'm the greatest women's fighter in boxing. And if we were to fight, I would win. That's what I think. [In MMA I wouldn't win], I can't wrestle. But in boxing, yeah , Amanda Nunes would go to sleep."

If there was an attractive undercard, featuring MMA vs boxers, Shields-Nunes would do pretty well on PPV.
Both fighters have personality and appeal.

I doubt any Women's Boxing match will ever do "well" on PPV.SenorPipino wrote: ↑13 Jul 2019, 11:15 If there was an attractive undercard, featuring MMA vs boxers, Shields-Nunes would do pretty well on PPV.

Reports were that it did about 125,000. Almost Khan-Crawford numbers. Close to Golovkin-Lemieux.
Pretty good considering the ladies don't get anywhere near the pre fight pub that men do.
Shields has been getting decent mainstream attention and Nunes has gained a lot of traction in MMA, starting with her destruction of Rousey.
The novelty of seeing the 2 established main female stars from their respective combat sports collide, indicates that it would draw eyeballs.
I'm certain it would outdo Malignaggi's scintillating bareknuckles debut.

Pretty sure the fact that they just happened to be the daughters of the two most fierce rivals in the sports history didn't hurt. It probably drew 80K of those buys off of that.SenorPipino wrote: ↑13 Jul 2019, 15:34Reports were that it did about 125,000. Almost Khan-Crawford numbers. Close to Golovkin-Lemieux.

Their lineage undoubtedly helped. But Shields and Nunes are building their reputations based on accomplishment, not just a family name.gilgamesh wrote: ↑13 Jul 2019, 15:37Pretty sure the fact that they just happened to be the daughters of the two most fierce rivals in the sports history didn't hurt. In her 2 fights against Hammer and Gabriels, Shields has attracted some of the highest numbers that ShoBox has enjoyed in the past 2 years.
Her Olympic gold medal performances made Shields a star before she even turned professional.

lmao in clars biggest fight --that they had an all access style show for and tried hyping up-- she did just a bit over 300k, if you mean in ratings thats a pretty f@cking loose use of star and she already has like no one to fight
shes a female boxer, cant even score a knockdown, isnt pretty, has no rival with a famous name,etc.....hard for her to be a big star
