Marvin Hagler vs James Toney

Post by TheGman »

So who would win in a fight between these two, hagler the tough southpaw or the tough slick James Toney?
I think Toney might of nicked this,he always found a way at middleweight

At Middleweight? Toney would've been lucky to win 2 rounds.

He was never at his best here in terms of condition (too drained even in the best of situations), and hadn't learn all the tricks of the trade that made him the well rounded Pro he came to be at the heavier weight classes.

I'll take the jabber-counter puncher with the better chin, way better stamina, who fights out of a southpaw stance, to win by a wide margin.

James Toney beats Marvin Hagler at an eating contest.

I think the biggest difference between these two men is, Marvin Hagler will never go to bed at night wondering "what if I had only done more?"

Toney would be slick enough to cause troubles for Hagler, but with his pressure and skills Hagler would outwork and outland Toney.

If you could get James Toney at a 100% physical and mental peak I'd give him a shot.
Defensively James Toney was awesome and when he was hyped he was mean and like Hagler had an incredible chin.
I think Hagler's all round boxing ability, conditioning and focus would have taken him by Toney, probably not by much but I think he'd have enough to win a decision.
