Tevin Farmer vs Guillaume Frenois

Post by handsofstone »

Farmer defends his IBF Super Featherweight title against former European champ Frenois this weekend on the Hooker/Ramirez card, I like the fact that Farmer's the most active champ out there but his defecnes leave a lot to be desired, the Tennyson and Carroll fights were good from an Irish/British pint of view but on a whole his defences have been weak, still they reckon its Jojo Diaz next and Davis afterwards although I doubt Mayweather will work with Eddie to make that unification

Not sure how it workred regarding Frenois getting his shot, he drew the eliminator with Carrol yet Carrol got the title shot not Frenois does, did the draw mean both guys were mandatory??

Farmer boxed well against Carroll and deserved his win but it was a close fight I thought , he did hurt Carroll late on and again showed why he one of the best defensive guys out there, I never scored Frenois's fight with Carroll but felt he could've edged it although I'm not surprised they never gave him the win, he's not fought since that night nearly a year ago, Farmer should have too much polish for him but he's tough and I can see him taking Farmer the distance but losing quite wide

Reckon Farmer is criminally underrated. He may not be an elite fighter but for what he is, there’s a lot to like.

Started boxing very late at around 19 I think, had about 16 amateur fights and is now world champion. Fights more often than any other world champion, except maybe Munguia. Some of the jazziest shorts I’ve seen. AND has a slick defensive style despite having a bog eye!

I rate him, like his style. He’s all wrong for Frenois, wins 118-110 with the odd hairy moment is my guess. Hope he gets a big lonely unification soon.

fights often but the standards been pretty low tbh, id rather him cut back his activity and up his opposition

Problem is Carroll/Frenois were no 1 & 2 in his rankings - which doesn’t say much.

Someone on twitter has just pointed out he looks like DMX and now I rate him even more.

He should up his opposition, but I think it’s an economic strategy from a late-starter who wants out with his health (not to mention a dull fight with little reward for other champs) rather than just being a shit house.

Dominant win again Farmer, I had 118-110 ahead, you know what you get with him, great footwork and movement, very good upper body movement and defensive skills but just a bit one paced and doesn't go through the gears enough and is always content to just box, he worked the jab very well and come over with some sharp southpaw lefts to head and body, strayed low a few times and deserved his point off in the 10th

I thought Frenois finished well enough, I gave him the 12th on account of the repeated left hands he kept nailing Farmer with but on a whole he never pressed enough to win the fight, Farmer likes to fight at a leisurely pace and he dictated tonight, Frenois allowed Farmer the time to pick his shots, Frenois wasn't in the same league but to have any chance of winning he had to unsettle Farmer, keep pushing out the punches but he didn't work hard enough, he showed in the last round he can hit Farmer but it was too late

Weird crowd there I thought. Frenois was dominated but Tevin was booed.
