Has the word "weight" become too heavy?

Post by bbfc »

I notice that throughout the Boxrec website the word "weight" is no longer included in any of the weight divisions. Why on earth would that be? Surely it is not too fatiguing for the webmasters to write the full word "heavyweight... lightweight" ect...?

The full names of the weights have been the full names of the weight since weight divisions came into boxing in the 1820's. Please let's not devalue a fantastically informative website with laziness!

Please return to posting the full weight division names. :TU:

Keep up the good work!

Just guessing, but I suspect the division is stored as a number, with each number being displayed as the name of the division, especially with how quick the change is.

I don't like the change but I don't think there's and laziness, just a weird stylistic one.

72% of users are now on mobile, screen real estate is at a premium. The word weight is redundant and took up a lot of horizontal space.

No big deal. Btw, I like some of the new features and can't wait til all the records are uploaded (I.E. Amateur records, other sports, etc) Well done!
