UK Sports Coverage is total garbage

Post by Ricky »

So I was looking forward to watching heavyweight Martin Bakole tonight on the Next Gen card, only to learn the fight is done and dusted an hour before live TV coverage begins.

What a fvcking joke. Do you know what precedes this card on SKY Action? Show Jumping. Not even live Show Jumping... but a repeat.

Do other countries put up with such laughable & inept sports coverage, or is it just us mugs?

It was on FB

Might be able to watch here still.

There’s a RBR thread also on this section, full running order so you know who’s fighting next. Even Qais Ashfaq got out on facebook

I do not get why they don’t use the Mix channel.. it’s a bloody useless channel. They show 10-30 min highlights of random shit all day.. flippin use it. It’s the same as FB. It’s free!

Poor again from sky / Matchroom tonight .
I didn’t realise Robbie Davies Jnr was on the card but he’s chief support against a 36year old Czech with an extremely poor record with just the 21 losses!

Thats the British , European and Commonwealth champion fighting an absolute nobody who’s wins have probably come in Czech gyms .
Hardly next generation or a learning fight and it’s not as if he’s coming off a loss ? .

I’m actually looking forward to the Cullen v Harding Jnr fight on soon -two unbeaten and hungry lads . It should be a lot more competitive than the chief support .

Mix is just a channel they use to try and sell sky sports to non sky sports subscribers

In general terms of sport in a whole you are correct. Only people who can afford satellite tv have an advantage of sports in the UK.

Sport = money and thats the simple equation.

The only people who suffer are kids really, lets take the cricket world cup final which sky agreed to let Channel 4 have the right to show live. The following day items bought for kids cricket related went up 10 fold. Sure the day after that more cricket equipment was binned than any other sports attire in 40 years. Seriously though its not fair that kids have to get their step dads to pay for them to watch sports in this country.

It was also shown live on SKY Sports YouTube channel. Almost all of Sky's boxing events have a live free to watch hour long undercard show on YouTube that leads directly into their TV broadcast. Something to remember for future shows.

Ah. They never advertise Youtube. They only advertise Facebook on the Matchroom website.

Sky's cricket coverage is awesome but it does preclude those who can't afford it, including kids as mentioned earlier. Maybe they should put the county championships out for free and just charge for the internationals?
