Toney is pretty overrated. I actually was overrating him myself. Well, his performance against Barkley was stellar. But he had a bunch of close and disputed decisions. Ward cleaned up the SMW division, when it was filled with good boxers. Ward had enough tools to outwork and to trick Toney.

Yeah, I hate Andre Ward, and James is one of my all time favorite fighters, but I just can't see James winning this match.

Toney is world class, atg counter puncher

But he was lazy and could be outworked in particular with a left hook

However the only time toney was dominated (until he was old and shot) was against rjj and that was due to foot speed

Ward never fought a great counterpuncher i can recall. Froch, kessler, kovalev are all come forward. Dawson could counter but not at toneys level
