He would've barely been Top 10 in the world at that time. Every other active Heavyweight who was somebody at that time would've likely beaten him. He was briefly ranked off beating shot Mike though, but that was a very brief run.

Brewster, Byrd, Ruiz, The Klitschko's (Vitali did beat him), Sam Peter, Toney....I don't really see Danny beating any of those guys.

Crap, in a word.

He was great. Not really a world class guy though, as pointed out already. Had some top domestic scraps.

He had decent ability but seemed to lack confidence in himself, an underachiever. I stood next to him once and I was surprised just how big he was, he’s a massive lump.

I'm not sure he was ever even good enough to beat the Danny Williams on the original Hawaii Five-0.

Danny Williams was ranked in the Top 10 - by both the WBC and WBA - in 2003

Well known he only got the Tyson fight - at short notice - because Kevin McBride's management were asking for too much money....

It's almost as if the WBC and the WBA put Williams in the Top 10 so that his fight with Tyson would seem like a bigger deal than it was. .....Wait, there is no way that those two respected organizations would do something like that.

Danny was outside the Top 10, until he signed with Don King - then, hey presto - he was ranked in the top 10 by both WBC & WBA - just pure co-incidence of course

I tend to disagree a bit.

Danny was certainly a bit short of the top level but he was a ferocious puncher in his day.

I'd have given him a fair chance against someone like Brewster.

The weird thing was Danny's strange wobbly legs syndrome. If he'd had a granite chin he'd have been a def contender at his peak...whenever that was.

That's about spot on PC

Although Danny was very decent at that Brit-Commonwealth level and certainly one or two lesser Brit champs than him managed to win the blue Euro belt in the past.

The arrival of the seriously big, quite well-schooled and very hungry Eastern European heavies shook-up the European scene in terms of quality, physical ability and ambition big time.

It was no longer a title the Brits, Italians and Germans and the odd Scandinavian shared out between themselves.
