Emanuel Navarrete vs Juan Miguel Elorde

Post by handsofstone »

Navarrete defends his WBO Super Bantamweight title on the Fury/Wallin card this weekend, both guys 28-1, Navarrete with 24 KOs and Elorde with 15, never seen or heard of Filipino Elorde nor anyone on his record so don't know how good he actually is, never seen Navarrete's last defence, he KO'd the fella in 3 rounds just a few weeks ago, at least he's staying active, I like Navarrete he looks a force in the division, he gave Dogboe 2 horrendous beatdowns, first one on points which should've been stopped and in the rematch stopped him in the last round which should've been stopped earlier

Assuming Navarrete comes through this one unscathed hopefully Hearn and Arum can work together again for a unification with Roman

Challenger is apparently the grandson of Flash Elorde - will be interesting to see if he is a chip off the old block.

Navarette was superb in both fights against Dogboe, looks a real beast at Super Bantamweight. Pedraza v Zepeda also on the undercard, looks a tricky fight to call on paper and should be a decent contest - seems to have gone under the radar somewhat.

Navarrete sweeps aside Elorde in 4 rounds to retain his title, piece of piss really, after a quiet opener, Navarrete stunned Elorde with an uppercut in the 2nd which had him backing up, maybe conscious of getting done before he had got going Elorde came out for the 3rd with more purpose and tried to put it on Navarrete but it was his undoing, he was giving a standing count when the ropes kept him up, Navarrete feinted with the right and came over with the left which sent Elorde falling back in the ropes, the writing was on the wall there and after Navarrete wobbled Elorde with a right hand in the 4th the ref stepped in
